It's that tiny because they designed it to use the same size cassettes as DX9's Soundwave. I don't exactly know why, but my theory is at the time they thought that was the ceiling for how small they could go with articulated cassettes. This was always a blunder though, because they were eventually going to do their own Soundwave, who would have to be larger than DX9's in order to scale with MST's Megatron, who would have to be larger than MST's Optimus.

MST only follows scale charts relatively, where this guy should be taller than that guy, while being shorter than this other bigger guy. Not, this guy should be as tall as that guy's shoulder, and as tall as this bigger guy's elbow. And even with that, I don't think they're always right on the money, but they're amazing figures so bfd.

We got a MST OP 2.0, UM 2.0, potentially a Prowl 1.5. I definitely expect an update to their Blaster eventually, especially now that they've got cassettes well worked out.

Well, said! With the exception of Blaster, MST's own scale was pretty consistent from the beginning, I'd say. Minibots < Carbots < "larger" Carbots (Inferno, Trailbreaker) < OP < UM. Pretty much every character is smaller/larger than the characters he's "supposed to be" smaller/larger than. Maybe not by as much as you or I may like, or the official scale chart dictates, but in the MST universe bots are closer together in size (kinda like in the comics). Anyway, not all over the place, I don't think.

Yeah, I got that they don't scale right according to the scale chart/MP. But he also said that they don't scale according to MST's own scale. And that's why I was confused. Because MP scale ≠ MST scale, right? If MST has their own scale, which is not MP scale, I don't know how it follows from (a) MST doesn't follow MP scale that (b) MST doesn't follow their own scale

Anyway, that was my confusion! Not a big deal though--back to dat JAZZ! :rock

This is actually what is making me take more notice to MS car bots. I do LOVE my NA Jazz, Prowl and even v1 Bumblebee. But now that I have more NA (mostly) and MS bots, they look stumpy. And I know car bots are typically smaller than seekers, but they look REALLY small now. Again, love them! Impressed they were able to do so much in a smaller size, but now want them to look a little more in line with the rest.

I'm a fan of larger car bots and MST has been consistent with their own scale for the most part. Blaster is an exception but as @NOCV explained that was because they originally designed him to pair up with DX9's soundwave. I feel like they'll eventually go back and hit that one again if for no reason so they can split his cassettes lopsidedly between a cassette pack, Blaster, and Twincast...

Maybe if I went back and watched the cartoon I'd find more scenes than I remember where the car bots were shown as waist high to Prime but in the very first episode this is Jazz's first appearance and he's right about chest high to Prime which stuck in my mind as about the right height.

Maybe that's the general vibe MST is going for. I finally got the NA Datsuns some months ago. I've had NA Jazz since he was released. I like the Jazz mold more but they are all fun figures. That said they are one-offs for me. Figures I like enough to have them and pull them down and fiddle with them, but they look very off to me next to anything else I have. Even the IF bots scale bigger. They do hit the Sunbow chart if that is your be-all-end-all. It's not mine.

Same for me, glad I'm not a scale fetishist, all them brands and their figures are all over the place. MS car bot figures look great together. I really like the Constructicons being larger compared to the 'holy' Sunbow scale chart, they're freaking big construction vehicles. Plus it gives them the correct size to combine like they're supposed to.

@Tismark that's how I remember Jazz as well :thumb

wow things are definitely starting to get real at MS.

when i saw the gap pics last time i just figured we would have @NOCV bang out a filler piece.

but now that MS has done it on their own and it serves as an accessory pack as well. im blown away.

Man MS is really stepping up their game.
If they can make all the release dates it has been a great year for us collectors.
This looks solid as a bone with that pack, glad I waited with the rest of the carbots.
Still hope they will re-do sideswipe and red alert, skipped those because of the ugly head sculpts

That looks a lot like coloured and tampographed plastic instead of something hand-painted. Seems like Jazz is ready for release too :)
