did everyone that had broken hips only get that specific part? i reported my broken hip and also mentioned possible cracks seen on the other side. so i got an answer and looks like i'll be getting both, and surprisingly they will be attached to the thighs! :D

this is happy news as i wasn't too sure how easy/difficult to pull the hip mushroom peg out of the thigh and get it back in as well. will definitely make it a less painful swap to fix, which is already stressful needing to pop the socket back onto the ball and praying it doesn't crack again. :p

My replacement was just the hip. I'll have to figure out how to get the old one off the thigh but I haven't gotten around to it yet

That sucks, if it's just the joint it's a big pain in the butt. If it's the leg assembly it's easy

Yeah, unfortunately just the joint. Which I'm hoping won't crumble again once I put it on

There's a chance I may get a copy of Heat Death. Is it the ball or the socket that tends to crumble? If it's in good shape when it shows up, and I shock oil the joints, am I still at risk of breakage?

it's the hip socket, not the ball joint. no one knows the exact cause of the failure. so i would assume yes that there's a risk of it happening. definitely would lube it, but don't assume that will make you safe from it happening. there doesn't seem to have been any reports of it happening on Cryotek, so maybe it was a bad batch early on for HeatDeath? the failure i had was on the figure i got first and it was right when it was released. my 2nd copy was shipped out late at least a month or more afterwards. i would inspect it once you have it in hand to see if there's any odd fractures or hair line cracks in the plastic.

if you decide to get one, best of luck to you! ;)

Had to use s small flat head screwdriver and wedge it in there to pry it out. It's not at all easy and it VERY tight. Especially if the piece is completely crumbled and there isn't much to grab onto

:D  megatron back to full strength… received my replacement leg parts. for now i've only swapped the one that was cracked and loose. will set aside the other aside for now in case it's needed in the future to swap in if the other becomes an issue and also becomes loose.

I saw that a "second batch" version is on The Chosen Prime. Was the hip joint issue fixed with that batch or is it still occuring?

Welp, the copy I bought off Ebay must have been a first run copy. He looked great when he showed up, and I immediately greased the joint and stood him on a shelf. Picked him up last night and the plastic has started cracking one one hip. Glad I only paid $40 for him. I'll have to see if I can do any kind of surgery to shore him up.

I got the "Second Batch" from TCP back in February. I have really only transformed it maybe, 10 times and I try to be careful with it because sometimes the pieces just...feel sort of brittle. (But IF figures aren't something I'm used to handling so this may be a psych out)

I haven't touched it in a few months so I just went and looked at it and manipulated the joints again. My copy still appears to be pristine with no cracking or issues with the legs, but again, I don't transform him much. I'm really sorry to hear about these issues when it definitely sounds like it's not a product of being mishandled in any capacity.

I'm not sure if second batch meant a second run with improvements or it was just a batch like "we sold out before but we are getting more months later." Or something.

Also checked on the blue guy and it looks good too, but I only messed with him 4 or 5 times.
