Been bitten a bit by that myself. I, and I’m sure others here, signed up for the Hachette “Ultimate marvel graphic novels collection” back in 2012. It was supposed to be 60 issues, and then it got extended, and extended and extended. Now the collection stands at 250 issues with a further 30 issue extension that nobody asked for.

To be honest they have really been pushing the envelope stating that they are the Ultimate Graphic Novels, there has definitely been a fair few filler issues in there (hello, Squirrel Girl).

As with all of us there is a drive to get a complete collection, but in the time the collection has been going I have moved out of home, bought a house of my own, had 2 kids and got married. I think enough is enough.

I learned this lesson early on. When I was still in high school I subscribed to Dragon Ball GT.
After the first couple of releases, excitement switched seats with regret.
It eventually made it to 32 releases.

Thanks! I’ll give it a try, and I’m doing alright thanks mate. Thankfully I’ve got my robots to take my mind off of it, that in itself is priceless :)

    Good morning Thredizens!

    In which IDT don’t shiv.

Wreck-Gar was clearly built with a chin-socket for Junkion facial hair. Maybe Scourge was too? There's lots of Junkions, and there's lots of Sweeps. Coincidence? I DONT THINK SO.

Now we know why they were chosen to rebuild Unicron. Who also has facial hair. And comes back every time he's blown apart. Forget the 'cons, forget the Quints, we know who the real power in the Galaxy is!

    Dare to be stupid
Come on and dare to be stupid

Need to pick these 3 up. I saw Perceptors pre order had sold out on Kapow which took a lot longer than I thought it would.

Out of these 3, which would you recommend I get first?

I generally find Scott's videos interesting (if often questionable) but I'm pretty fucking certain Mattel didn't sell ownership if I was being forced to choose.

Well, all I've done so far is open their boxes and put them on the mantlepiece. They all feel great though and look really, really nice! Gnaw will sell out as people will army-build him, Wreck-Gar will sell out as he's the best Wreck-Gar we've ever Wreck-Garred, and Slag will sell out because oh lawd he coming. So you need to buy all of them. Plus Slag comes with a dude in a gimp suit who he keeps as a pet. :)

I'm going to say Slag > Wrecks > Sharky, but that's just the order in which I appreciate the characters. '85 > Eric Idle > '86, I guess! :lol

Wreck-Gar is the most visually striking, I think. The only toys of him I had are the POTP one (packed in a box) and the Animated one (sold yonks ago). This version looks much better than either! You really do want all of them though. :D

Re: Ebay - I go in hard at the last minute (oo-err!). Have an absolute maximum you're willing to go for and just bang it in - and don't succumb to the 'if only I'd paid an extra £5' mentality if you lose. Missed out on an absolutely mint G1 Grimlock yesterday in a box in amazing condition as someone bid higher at the last second, but definitely ended up finishing as more than I'd be willing to pay so have to let it slide!

Anyway, totally loving the new Sharkticon figure, really nicely done.

I’m probably going to prioritise Slag and Wreck Gar, I won’t be too upset if I miss Gnaw I think. I might just pick up one if I have the cash and he’s there in the shop :)

Sigh, I've had to move my Slag delivery date back to Monday 20th.

I'm venturing into work tomorrow (when it was supposed to be delivered) and RM's Saturday deliveries are too unreliable round here. I had a "we will deliver between 10:30 and 14:30" from them last Saturday, only to get home at 9:20 to find a red card of doom in the letterbox saying we call at 9:10 but you weren't here!

I completely agree with all your points and didn't know about the original pitch etc, so yeah you're right, makes sense trying a KS.
I'd have been in if the price was cheaper as I have a somewhat love / want to play Chess more regularly and teach my son.
The figures look awesome, but could have been smaller to bring the price down and I'm not a massive fan of that base either but understand the design choices being made.

The new tiers are laughable, who wants half a chess set?
Also forcing the people who possibly wanted the book with the art and characters to also buy Prime as a piece for £73 ... jeez!
Also adding Wreck-Gar is fine, but only adding him to the Top Tier (£508) is a joke! Pretty much every KS I've ever backed gives you the stretch goals at any tier not just the highest lol

I feel for the 185 people who were willing to shell out this amount of cash, but at the same time worry about those 185 people .....

I tend to watch a bid, then a couple of days/day before place a bid to gauge if other people are actually showing genuine interest.

I place a maximum bid (that might not be my actual maximum bid) so that if someone bids higher than my first bid, my maximum bid might outbid theirs, hoping that person will either give up, or wait til the last hour to try again, this, again shows how much actual interest there is.

Then, if I am willing to bid more, I will put my absolute maximum bid on the last day/hour of the bid, so that its upto the Ebay gods on wether I win. I work awkward shifts at work and don't always have time to be watching Ebay on the last few minutes. But I have won numerous items in the past with these tactics even with people trying to snipe at the last second.

Sometimes if I'm in two minds if I actually WANT something, I'll bid early on, to see if I actually want it, depending on what activity the bid has, makes up my mind for me, if I get outbid sometimes I find I'm okay with that and let it go. Other times I find I'm willing to fight more for the item, and it's only through placing that first bid I'll find that out.

Also as someone else mentioned, Ebay is a lot more active when you place a bid, in letting you know what's going on with the auction.

I've bagged some pretty sweet deals doing it my way, and if I've missed out on stuff then oh well, money saved for another day. But can honestly say I've never had to snipe at the last minute.

Meanwhile my Slab and Gnaw has yet to leave Comics and Cocktails. Got the tracking though.

C&C great prices and customer service but can be a lil slow getting stuff out the door.

I wonder if their research on how much interest there might be was done in the brief window after everyone got excited about The Queen's Gambit, and hoped for a bit of a boost near the end of the campaign with the Emmys reminding people of it again or something.

My SS86 haul should arrive today. Naturally it's one of the few days I'm actually at work this week.

I'm probably going to save a few of them to open tomorrow, when I suspect I'll really need it. Slag is absolutely getting opened tonight though!

    Ebay:
    Great idea.

Also known as the correct amount of Handsome Springer's to own.

Yeah, I'm with you bud, if it had been smaller and under £100 I'd probably have grabbed it too. Actually - I'd have expected someone to give it to me as a Christmas gift, given how much TF merchandise the wife & co have shoveled my direction over the years.

Amazing thanks to the Chief Autobot Customs Agent himself @4249david for helping to hook me up with the latest set of MOTU Mega Construx lads! Naturally Amazon US wasn't keen to deliver to the NI deadzone.

Scareglow is a wee beaut. A sinister minister.

To this day I can't understand how Man-e-faces was a good guy, he has serious bad guy vibes in his appearance. I must dig Animated Blitzwing out of storage for a photo of these guys.

Also - the Chess set is a bit mad (in my view). So expensive, and realistically is anyone going to play chess with it? The issue with 'novelty' chess sets (i.e. ones that change the shape of the pieces) is that it makes it harder to 'see' what's going on at any one time. Particularly if your opponent had no idea who the characters are. 'So, is this one a knight or a rook?' The classic chess shapes are all so immediately distinct from each other that you can tell instantly what the state of play is from a quick glance without having to consult your who's playing-what-role book.
