If these ever get released (and if the quality is there), this will be a nice replacement for my Maketoys Inferno. He is a good boi, but he is starting to show his age.

The Takara one was always a too simplistic bland slab of red plastic, and this XTB looks to hit the nail on the head between cartoon aesthetic and MP stylings.

The TT transformation is amazing, you are missing out.

With respect I think you are just looking waaaay too deeply into his comment. Most people didn't love Tesla's face sculpt because it looked nothing like the character. No need to attribute it to any cultural bias.

I think I might be in the minority that prefers the ladders/crane being on the back rather than being hidden away.

Also that vehicle mode is the best of the Inferno/Grapple molds, and has my preferred aesthetic of the bot mode so far as well.

Predicting low sales on this is not unreasonable. Inferno is not a top, or even second tier character to begin with. The 3rd Party market is not that big to begin with, and many people have had Inferno taken care of which eliminates them from that small pool right away. There will be some people who will swap out, either because they prefer this or just to get the latest thing, and some people have doubtlessly just not bothered on an Inferno to this point. That said it will not be a large pool of potential buyers right from the start.

Of course XTB has shown a willingness to pursue even more obscure characters recently, such as Omnibots, so it isn't out of character for them. Even with no competition the number of people interested in toy only mail-in characters is limited.

Davinci and Dante looks better than the Takara Tomy Grapple and Inferno. But I'm in no rush to replace my TT-Bots for now. I will take a closer look at them when they are released.

I prefer ladders / crane exposed too if it's not too long or touching the bottom and bot being stable enough. I also like interior details on Inferno / Grapple and with hidden ladders / crane we couldn't have it. Thats why I don't like Takara ones ( I prefer MMC Backdraft as the best option but I'm also waiting for FT )

I was in back then, I'm still in now even though I have Backdraft and the official. Always liked this design the best.

Perhaps, but they are just not to my taste. I actually like that the Maketoys versions have the cranes on their back, and other vehicular details visible in robotmode. The Maketoys transformations are fun and intuitive, and you get plenty of extra expressive faces. Best bang for your buck, if you ask me.

But as always: If you bought it, and you like it, you win.

You never know, but I kinda doubt this has much to do with Hot Spot (other than maybe 'speaking of fire trucks - shit we forgot all about the other one!').

It's a very different truck so I don't see any part sharing going on. Interestingly enough Hot Spot does have the disappearing Inferno ladder trick going on. I guess just not worth the effort to go back to the drawing board with this. Plus with it's more 'hybrid' styling, and with TT/KO filling to toon spot perfectly, I think this will appeal more to those who are quite happy to have the ladder out toy-style. Glad they fixed those horrible boat feet though!

If you are, I'm with you. I prefer to see as much of the alt mode in bot mode as possible. I want to be able to tell by looking at the bot mode what its alt will be. IMO, the bots that have their alt kibble hidden so well that their alts are ambiguous are the most generic and boring. That's kinda why "full toon" figures aren't very appealing to me.

I like how KFC is sticking with the realistic vehicle aesthetics. FT is zigging towards "slavish toon accurate vehicles" and XTB (by sticking with the way they were already doing things) is ending up zagging. I personally like show accurate robots that turn into realistic vehicles, and I think Inferno should be tougher-looking than Grapple, so I'm eagerly awaiting pics and reviews of hard copies. Also, it looks like it's not a completely insane transformation either.

I'm not gonna lie though, the Takara/Tomy "disappearing ladder/crane" trick IS a work of wizardry. Like, "awe and wonder" level transformation. Smart Robin level stuff.

I like your optimism but anyone who wants toon accuracy would of already got the Takara Inferno and those who like their figures looking good would of gone MMC/MT (cheap shot :)  )
Still, I hope you're right as I prefer all 3rd party companies to do well.

I think it's worth mentioning again that firetrucks have a whole fandom of their own and this is BY FAR the coolest looking MP scale firetruck. That will give it some bump, I imagine. (I figure that's part of why a C-list character would get so many figures... it has one of the best altmodes)

It doesn't hurt that he kind of looks very generally Optimus Prime-ish. Like, if they had introduced him as his lieutenant commander, would anybody have really doubted that? Especially if he looked like THIS figure.

Agreed. Believe it or not, I kinda want the Firetruck robot to have some firetruck parts on him... I have the same deal with Optimus, preferring exposed wheels.

Also, Up for PO and damn! I think $120 makes this the cheapest of the Infernos.
