    Grimlock and his dads.

The size of his blaster took me by surprise, plus there's no hollowness to be seen.
How about a little weapon swap with FoC Grimlock?

How didn't I thought about naming it that :lolol

There are a lot of quotes involved in this reply Ol' Timer so, I've broken it down into bolded sections based on the character. Hopefully this helps you add to your data set for your decision making process.

    Optimus Prime:

    As volatus points out:

Siege voyager Optimus Prime and Earthrise/Kingdom Optimus do very different things. They both do things well and, they both do things poorly. It's a situation where version A does something better and version B does something better (and vice versa) even though version B retool of Version A. Retools like this should fix the outlying design/aesthetic issues without introducing new ones. Both the Siege and Earthrise/Kingdom versions are solid choices.

It really boils down to do want kibble with a better waist/codpiece/hips and less leg raise articulation and robot mode kibble (Siege) or, do you want the exact opposite with a mediocre quality trailer (Kingdom) vs which vehicle mode (Not Sunbow or Sunbow) and weapon you prefer (Siege has a G1 toy inspired gun and Earthrise/Kingdom has an cartoon inspired gun) you prefer.

    Megatron:

    As Dachande points out:

QFT, Classics NERF-ish Megatron is pretty much the last time anyone is going to see a general release mass retail Transformer that is 100% without a doubt a gun (upside down spaceships/submarines that people have convinced themselves are laser guns are in fact not).

    and also points out:

I didn't (and still don't like) the battle damage paint apps but, I'm going to offer you some different advice. I finally caved and got Springer last month MISB for $35 ($5 over MSRP). A week or two later it was up to $40 and then to $45. The price is probably going to continue to creep up and I don't know about you but, I would personally be wringing my hands and banging my head against the desk if a repack or clean deco never materialized. I loath FOMO and I absolutely don't want to generate it any but, for me it wasn't worth the continued risk on Springer (especially since I wound up with an amazing copy).

I really wish that would be Optimus Prime's default blue (and I've always felt that way). It's not even a toy vs Sunbow vs generation thing for me, it just looks better (especially when paired with a slightly desaturated red (like Sieage/Earthrise/Kingdom have).

Yo Racer_J, thanks for your thoughts on everything. So I'm taking from this that you recommend getting the current Springer then or were you hinting that maybe it's best to hold off?

It depends on how you feel about Springer. Siege Springer is pretty much what I have been waiting for (other than the battle damage) and, I didn't want to wind up in a situation where people want absurd levels of money for it as a result of a clean version that may or may not ever be made. We all know thatHasbro/TakaraTomy love to print money but (by all accounts and analytical analysis) SS86 is a filler line comprised of stuff that no longer fit into Kingdom due to a creative change. I also want to point out that at this point in time, there are a ton of toys in the WFCT that haven't gotten a clean deco. However, Springer is really the only 86 cast meber that hasn't other than Galvatron (which is still a current release). It would make sense for them to get them but. Hasbro/TakaraTomy could easily say "I can't deal with that now" and move on.

If that's your mindset or close to it, then yes, I would recommend getting the Siege version now (assuming you can get it for close to MSRP; I'm not trying to talk anyone into a $20+ markup). If a clean version comes along later, you will probably be able to sell the Siege version for a small loss or MSRP because someone somewhere will want any version of the mold (e.g. T30 Rhinox) or will prefer the battle damage. I'm not saying the value of Siege Springer will matriculate, I'm just saying that I don't see any scenario where you have to sell it for $10 or less and that people will refuse to take it for free.

In the end, it's just like any purchase is. It's just a basic risk vs reward ratio. For me, the risk was lower and the reward was higher to buy Siege Springer for $35 compared to waiting on the possibility of a repack/reissue of it (which has absolutely no discernible probability). Likewise, the risk of needing to sell my Siege copy later if a clean version is released is neither really high nor low because at some point it would sell close to what I paid for it and it's ok if I have to wait on that to happen.

Neither myself nor anyone else can determine another person's risk to reward ratio level though. Everyone has to decide that on their own because it's directly related to the statistics and odds (everything is possible but not everything is probable) of something that might/will/won't happen and that is 100% a core values situation which all of the words in the world can't change someone's feelings/opinion on.

Ah, okay, makes sense. Thanks again. Didn't I see somewhere that the battle damage on these figures were stickers or labels that could be taken off somehow or was that just one figure that someone posted?

Personally I think the current one is great, and there's no guarantee there will be another better one anytime soon. When I got Siege Springer he was shelf-warming and I paid $25. Shop around and if you can get him for $25-$35, he's worth it.

No, they are 100% paint apps and some of them are made of sterner stuff. The are several posts where something comes off easy and refuses to come off on another copy even with the same strength of alcohol.

While we're on the subject of rubbing alcohol:

Never use ethyl, it will either be cut with acetone or have acetone in it due to how it's manufactured. RIP your plastic if you use this.

Skip the store bought isopropyl. I know it's popular but just find a trustworthy 99.9% lab grade isopropyl and dilute it to 70% and/or 91% depending on what you need. Start out with 70%, it's better to start out out too low than too high. Also perform due diligence on the toy you will be working on to find out if you need to quickly swipe or if it's ok to rub and how long you can spend working on a specific area.

Never get any rubbing alcohol on the translucent plastic in Siege/Earthrise/Kingdom because it can destroy it. It doesn't always but it can. It will also cause it to fog up (like old headlights) but, rubbing alcohol always has that effect on translucent plastic.

It's because magenta is the correct colour. I love SS86 Hot Rod but, it's not even remotely the correct shade. It's vastly better than that garish shade of red on RTS Hot Rod, but better isn't he same as correct.
