Yeah, it's the hip repair. I asked Bababobo about this last week.

 

hopefully they werent like hey, lets fix the hips but leave the green panels and forget about the missing engine piece.

Aren't the green ankles just unpainted? I can't imagine that it'd be very hard to paint it. Only tricky part would be color matching the paint.

 

Not sure how the leg is put together, but if it involves punching multiple pins and such that'll be a pain.

 

It's pinned. I forget the extent of the problem, but looking at mine, I think it a single pin job...

 

Theres a couple vids on youtube oin how to fix the hip. heres one/ starts around 2 min mark. Im not worried if I have to fix the hip or paint the panels. I just dont want missing parts to the engine.

 

Oh, the hip is definitely a single pin, but you do need to be careful. Watching a video is hugely beneficial.

I had a missing engine piece but TFS-Express sourced a whole load of spares and stuff from TE, so I got my part at that time. It took ages for TE to supply them, but it's good to have him complete!

Rats, would have waited for ShowZ if I'd known it'd be $15 cheaper than TFsafari. I'd feel less bad at taking the gamble for only $50.

[Pre-Order] Transform Element TE-03 Phantom Mirage

Same listing page as the previous releases, and doesn't mention any damage or defective parts aside from the old hip issue, so hopefully everything's in working order. Seems like TE are just trying to get their last bit of money's worth out of their old molds (this guy and TE-01) before they move on to new stuff, and possibly a new company name?

 

picked up a sealed one from a facebook seller lets see what version i get.

 

Excluding the manufacturer qa/qc issue, I think this mold is excellent for its original price point and would love to see redecos, such as diaclone red, full/partial transparency, cell-shaded, etc.

However, I wonder if the widespread qa/qc issues with 1st and 2nd runs effectively killed TE's expected sale numbers or demand for this figure, thus causing hesitancy to release redecos?

It's been well over a year since initial release and it's baffling why TE still hasn't dropped any inkling of upcoming redecos.

ugh just jumped on one (for a backup copy since I thought TE would be no more soon) of the few normal priced ones last week from a decent retailer to avoid the low priced defective lot ones...now there is gonna be a new run at under 50 bucks?! i wish they'd release another color instead. haha. red mirage anyone? haha. do i need a 3rd? lol

Gambled on a discount one for $59 from TF-Direct. I got the green ankles, but other than that, no other QC issues. It's a nice figure even with the ankles the way they are.

 

Y'know, I've thought that Speed Star is probably the best-looking Mirage, but I couldn't bring myself to replace a perfectly good Sphinx with it, especially after the early reports of QC issues.

But for $49? Yeah, I'm in.
