assuming this is not a reboot it might have something more to do with continuity from a business standpoint. I e Hasbro would be apprehensive of jumping ship with Paramount if they have a new movie that is sort of kind of tied to the old ones. Makes the entire process a lot more difficult for Hasbro and the franchise to leave Paramount.

Of course if that turns out to actually be the case than Paramount are a bunch of assholes.

Of course I'm just speculating here please don't take this seriously.

The continuity of these films are a mess. We know the cybertronians (or there creators or quintessa, you see how this is a mess? You can’t even name the makers of the transformers properly in these movies). Have been around since the time of dinosaurs. Then you the knights being involved with King Arthur and you have the autobots being involved in historical events in TLK. Continuity in these films are screwed up so it’s not a big deal if you get the years right or wrong .

Why would Hasbro be hesitant to leave if Paramount kept making more of the same thing? Wouldn’t it make more sense for someone to want to stay if they’re getting something new?

What will happen to Paramount\'s Indy 5 now? It was reported somewhere that Harrison started filming earlier this summer and was scheduled to be released summer 2022.

Paramount is likely prepping to sell it's self, or par back drastically to make a profit again. All this over spending these companies keep doing eventually catches up with them. In Paramount's case you can't just keep barely breaking even or losing money. And having producers and directors that are so bad they have become internet jokes don't help. (Akiva Goldsman, Kurtzman for example) Also having one of the lowest ranked Streaming service doesn't help. The only thing Paramount+ really has is Star Trek, and the current iterations haven't been doing well with audiences, and the old stuff people like is available on multiple other services. So there are few reasons for most to get Paramount+ right now.

I don't get how the Knight being involved with King Arthur contradicts the Creators creating the Transformers since the Dinosaurs became extinct from the power of the Seeds about "sixty-four/five?" million years, way predating The Fallout of the Dynasty of Primes 17,000/Seventeen Thousand B.C and 454 A.D showing the Knights interacting with King Arthur?
I'm waiting to the Cybertron prequel to see if they will resolve the Creator/Quintessa confusion as there have been many individual Quintessons with their own motivations in the lore of G1. A new Quintesson Individual was just introduced in TF WFC, named Deesus, Quintessa was just one individual of the Quintesson species?

Ironically, that seemed to be exactly what AOE was building up to (very badly) - the Quintessons being the series' new Big Bads, with TF5 (presumably still a finale at that point... as it oh so blatantly was originally meant to be) being the Quints setting their eyes to Earth and Prime facing off against them.

However, implicitly, this thread was thrown out with TLK - as was pretty much everything else.

Whilst the pyramids were built over the Star Harvester, the people we see are nowhere near as advanced as the Ancient Egyptians were - so the idea that the Fallen came in Ancient Egypt isn't true. So, the 17000 BC date given seems to work - however, given that, in the Bayverse, most Cybertronians are at least 10,000 years old, why are events that happened a mere 7000 years ago (from their perspective) treated as ancient history?

    Chronologically the events go
    • 65 Million Years Ago: Creators exterminated the Dinosaurs
    • 17,000 B.C. The Fallen betrays his brothers
    • 10,000 B.C. All Spark Crashes on Earth
    • 2,500 B.C. Pyramid of Giza was built over the Sun Harvester
    • 1,000 B.C. Megatron crashes in the Artic
    0 AD
    • 484 A.D. Knights of Iacon/Dragonstorm assist King Arthur and Merlin
    • 2007 or 2007 A.D. The Allspark is destroyed
    • 2009 or 2009 A.D. The Transformers become public knowledge.

Personally I suspect part of any hesitation to abandon the bayverse will come from Hasbro's CEO. The 2007 movie is what put him into that position and it's been clear over the years he cares more about the movies than whatever actually is the current version of Transformers.

From what rumors I've heard, Harrison is out due to injuries and the fact he's old, so they've had to really change things behind the scenes. Some of the most recent rumors speculate he's no longer even the main in his own movie.

You're forgetting that Lorenzo straight up insisted that Quintessa was human and alive 5 billion years ago.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura on Quintessa's Origin

Also funny how Lorenzo shits on Beast Wars and robots turning into animals...AND LOOK WHERE WE ARE NOW!

Except if they were the Quints, then they could have simply called them THE QUINTESSONS. The whole point of calling them 'The Creators' is because they didn't know what they were supposed to be, the whole thing was an ass-pull delaying mechanic while the idiots in charge figured out where to go. Which ultimately was the complete opposite direction.

And, of course, I refer you to the above link where in no uncertain terms does Lorenzo claim that Quintessa is human and is supported by "lore" though where this lore can be found is something nobody knows to this day (mainly because it doesn't exist and Lorenzo is obviously pulling nonsense out of his ass).

Then why the hell is The Fallen's head have features typical to that of Ancient Egyptian depictions of gods? Elongated chin, "frills" on the sides of the head, and in some depictions of Osiris he's wearing a really tall crown. Its PAINFULLY obvious there's a whole Ancient Egypt theme going on with ROTF (the packaging from that toyline HAD HRYOGLYPHIC WALLS IN THE BOXES!) and it doesn't make any sense for it to suddenly have The Fallen, the central figure of all this...not be involved with the same civilization that built the pyramids.

It's not that hard. The prehistoric ancestors of the Ancient Egyptians make contact with the Fallen, who left such an impression on them that their rulers dress up like him and depict their gods in his likeness. Over the millennia, the source of this aesthetic is forgotten and the Ancient Egyptians naturally assume that's the way their gods and rulers should look since they have always looked like that since literally before written history.

To be honest, I still wonder how can they botched the continuity so badly. Even direct to DVD Sequel has better attempt at continuity.

That still doesn't work given the Egyptians weren't the only civilization that existed at the time. I mean, don't forget the Romans are basically next door (Cleopatra and Mark Antony, anybody?), and you have all the stuff going on in Central America.

Firstly, Rome did not exist as a city until the 8th century BC and "all the stuff going on in Central America" didn't happen until the Olmecs in the 15th century BC. As far as the main subject is concerned, I'm saying the Fallen encountered the ancestors of the Ancient Egyptians long before the Pre-Dynastic period and their depictions of kings and gods are unconscious imitations.

We shall have to agree to disagree on the topic. It's certainly not the biggest problems with the films in the inconsistency with the timeline, in comparison to everything else.

This thread has gone way out of topic I see.

    Back to the usual subject:

Yesterday, we ('we' in the sense journalists, newsies etc.) had a session with ViacomCBS CFO Naveen Chopra.

He said that the content production budget for Paramount+ will be doubled from next year.

But, what I got from the session is that their whole idea for Paramount+ is muddled. If we take Netflix, it's Netflix all over the world. If we take Amazon Prime, it's Amazon Prime all over the world. But for Paramount+, their content is on different networks in other countries. They are not even called Paramount+. For example for certain European countries, Comcast handles the content and it has both Paramount movies and Universal movies.

Mr. Chopra only mentioned the following about theatrical movies yesterday:

"I think [Brian Robbins] understands the perspectives of all of our constituents in the filmmaking industry. We are undergoing a lot of change, and I think Brian understands that in order to successfully navigate that change, you have to figure how to leverage the traditional parts of the business, including theatrical distribution, as well as newer parts of the business like streaming and changes in consumer behavior."

He also said that they are evaluating current production on a case-by-case basis on whether they are delayed, 45-Day theatrical window, traditional theatrical window or directly to Paramount+.

Said that A Quiet Place Part II got the 45-Day treatment, Infinite got direct streaming treatment, Clifford got delayed, and their latest decision was to delay MI and Top Gun. Announcements for other 2021/2022 movies will follow soon.

Sort off topic. But I know the Halo live action series will be on paramount + as well.
