Just came back from seeing it. Had an absolute blast! My Chinese GF loved it as well. She thought marvel did an amazing job at portraying elements of Chinese culture and folklore.

Visually stunning and well acted! Can’t wait to see more of Shang-Chi in the future!

The ten rings and Mandarin are so far from the comic versions. but the film was great.

Both of my daughters went with me (13 and 15). My oldest watches anime and superhero stuff regularly. My youngest doesn't like those kind of films and just wanted to tag along for the movie theater popcorn, nachos, and candy. Even she liked the film. It was one of the best self-contained Marvel movies in a very long time. Yeah Wong and the Fake Mandarin were there, but their appearances had no real impact on the plot. Avengers, Thanos, none of that really mattered. It was just a film about Shang Chi - which is refreshing at this point

So how much was the Abomination actually in the movie? I assume it was fight Wong, and then disappear right away. Anything more than that, or am I right on the money?

No need to tell me details if there was anything more, I'm just curious.

That’s about it for screen time. Abomination will be returning in “She-Hulk.”

(Not sure it’s been discussed) anyone slightly disappointed that in the end
When Shang was falling down through the air for the final blow on the queen soul sucker, I expected him to basically copy the buddha palm finisher from Kung fu Hustle since he had the poster in his room. It felt like the scene was building up to it. Perhaps it still was but decided to throw their own spin on it instead. Which is fine anyway, not like this was a detriment or anything.

Nope because I have no idea what that even is. I haven't seen Kung Fu Hustle since it first came out.

No, that would be pretty low on my like list if they really just reused the same plotline from Captain America and the Winter Soldier.

SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS Writer Explains The Thinking Behind That Big IRON MAN 3 Connection

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Dave Callaham explained why the decision was made to bring the character back after his Iron Man 3 appearance in 2013

"Iron Man 3'Trevor Slattery was really the only connective tissue we had available to us to connect to any previous iteration of the Ten Rings or the Mandarin, because Tony Stark is dead," Callaham explained. "We knew we wanted to use Sir Ben if it was possible, and that was a question we asked very early. 'Would Marvel be open to that? Was that a good experience? Did he enjoy playing Trevor Slattery?'

"We asked and Kevin said, 'Sounds great. We all love Trevor here. We’d love to see him again. But you guys need to craft the story and then lure him in. And that will be on you guys creatively, to give him something juicy,'"
he recalled. "And it turns out Sir Ben very much likes to play Trevor Slattery. It worked out."

This scene was a missed opportunity to make him wear his classic red pants and headband from his early comics days

Great movie. Cast were all great, a refreshing and delightful representation of Chinese culture. The action was energetic, fluid and highly entertaining, as was to be expected. Wenwu was the best character imo, charismatically and humanely portrayed by Tommy Leung and with a complicated history and understandable motivations, but ultimately a toxic influence on his family. Katy was really fun too, a great comic relief and human connection for Shang Chi.

I'll echo sentiments from earlier in this thread in that
I would have preferred a one-v-one between Shang Chi and Wenwu at the end instead of a big CGI monster fight. But it had been built up and finished the story they had been telling. I think Xialing was lacking in character growth as well, but with that awesomely ambiguous post-credits scene that will be made up for later.

First post-credits scene was unreal. I love that we are at this point in the 'verse now - where all the heroes are in constant touch with each other and, even if we don't see it, they are keeping their eyes on events around the world. Plus, that was one of Carol's best scenes - she was so likeable. Of course, the mystery and importance laid on the rings seems to be massive, so that was a very exciting surprise. Needless to say, I'm excited to see where the character goes next (and drunken karaoke with Wong was the cherry on top).

Great movie. I am so behind on newer martial arts films. I finally saw The Raid last year. But the fight scenes, especially when fighting more than one oppenent, were top notch. First post credit scene was awesome.

Shang-Chi Actually Filmed Razor Fist's Origin Story, Other Scenes

Munteanu recently spoke with ComicBookMovie.com, where he revealed that certain Razor Fist scenes that didn't make Shang-Chi's final theatrical cut will be available when it hits Blu-Ray. "We had that big end battle, and you [originally] would have seen a bit more there from Razor Fist," the Creed II star explained. "I'm looking forward to people seeing that because there was a reason why he replaced his blade with the dragon sword and fights with two swords, but I don't want to spoil too much and I don't want to give away too much."

He had one minor scene after

    Speaking of that
So Abomination is not really a "bad buy" since he did work with Wong?
