I think a discount is an almost certainty. Amazon doesn't F around if they're sitting on stock of exclusives. I can't imagine huge sell-through on this at MSRP.

This screams $69.99 lightning deal or Prime Day to me.

All of this is completely subjective opinion based on what I've picked up Amazon exclusives for over the past 4-5 years. Rarely MSRP. YMMV, obviously. :)

Look at the X-Men jet, Target can't give that thing away. I paid MSRP, and I feel like a mark.

seeing a Ford explorer in generations just makes me want more... regular car ass cars.

Give me a bot who turns into a honda civic. or a Ford Ranger, or a toyota camry, an early gen ford escort, or even a Mini cooper.  Bring back a bootleg binaltech line with really faithful car modes, but just as generations bots who arent a nightmare to handle. the rumor of a generations Skids makes me hopeful they keep it really faithful to the original Honda City, especailly since they secured all the lisencing for the MP. maybe we\'ll even see the motocompo with it.

MP licensing and Generations licensing are 2 separate matters, skids is likely to be close to his original alt mode but with enough deviation to not need the license

See i did know that licensing was different, im more hoping for something in line with like... Netflix bumblebee. I dont see a vw badge on it, but man that sure as hell is a beetle.
Even if its a little more abstract, like ER Wheeljack. He still super looks like a lancia, just not the original 80s one... damn close though. Give me something like that for Skids and ill be pumped.

I still stand by my original point. More generic car ass cars in generations please

The vw badge isn't on netflix bee, but it was on his box. And Wheeljack is a great example of being just different enough to not need the license. Earth Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are good examples too in my oninion.

Netflix Bumblebee has 4 VW badges: one on each wheel.

Netflix BB's VW license is basically a carry-over from the Takara release.

The hood/bonnet/trunk on the VW Bettle is basically one and the same.

No it's not, Hasbro doesn't get to carry over a license that Takara obtains, they're 2 separate companies that need to acquire licensing separately.

2 separate companies in 2 separate countries with different licensing laws. Hasbro has to obtain licensing separate from Takara. That's part of why Hasbro imports MP figures now instead of producing their own domestic versions. It's technically not their product so they don't need to obtain the licensing for the alt modes. Hasbro obtained the VW license from VW, they didn't get it by proxy when Takara got it.

However they obtained the license, since Hasbro has to produce a VW Bug alt mode, then it can be surmized that it was in part from when Takara produced and released the MP version that they'll have to get the license. They have a unified product release for the WFC line, so Hasbro has to release a VW Bug too. That's what I'm pointing out.

No, it can't. What can be surmised is that Hasbro decided they wanted to do Bumblebee as his VW mode (like they claimed in a live stream when he was announced) so they sought out the license to do it right (again, mentioned in it's announcement live stream). Hasbro obtained the license through their own means, not through Takara like you are trying to imply and they would have to do so for any licensing deal.

Correct. Having worked in a company where we licensed character content from Disney. WB, etc., this is how it works. Our divisions in other countries had their own licensing process and licenses for use are not shared.

I said it was a carry-over as part of them making the product (Takara release of MP VW BB as precursor). As a follow up, I even mentioned that "however they obtained the license", the bottom line is/was they (Hasbro) wanted/needed to produce a VW bug.

In any case, this is the Collaborative thread for JP/TF. Let's get back on the rails.

Looking forward to the release of this set.

It has nothing to do with the MP figure. Why can't you accept that? They even addressed the VW license in the Netflix wave 2 fan friday and not once mentioned the MP figure.

To be on topic, is anyone else going to pair JP93 with the BW/BM Dinobots subgroup as their liason/handler for communicating with the Autobots?

Let me see if I can clarify. When Takara did the MP21, Takara had to get the license from VW. Fast forward to WFC, Both Takara and Hasbro wanted to go back to the VW Beetle Alt mode. Being that they already did that type of design with MP, they redesigned it to suit the new line. And yes, I understood that they collectively had to get a new license from VW.

I wonder if there will be other JP crossovers that will be made.
