Is that a different version of the Armorer or something with a cloth/fuzzy...cape... thing... what is the technical term for that garment?
I didn't realize that Aphra was particularly rare, lol. I can't remember if she was from Amazon or GameStop, but I wouldn't have figured New Canon comic characters were highly sought after (even 10/10 ones like her).
Don't know how sought after she was overall, but her wave wasn't very easy to find in my experience and from what I've read from others. eBay listings for her currently don't show up sub $90 anymore. She could definitely use an Archive reissue.
Oh yeah, I was able to track down BT-1 and 0-0-0 without paying too much of a late tax, but Aphra is a tough get, even compared to her beloved murder droids. Between CW Ahsoka and her, you've got some goodies in that photo, for sure.
I was just wondering if Black Series (the real one at six inches) was even still running. I bet it's been two years since I saw a Star Wars toy in stores. It's like that period between wave three and the red box series series.
That's kind of been how it goes for years though. Black Series comes out swinging in like, September, then they peter off by January, and maybe we get one more wave in the spring before they go radio silent for the summer. I think before it was to keep up with movie cycles, but now there aren't any movies so the reason is ??? Yet Marvel Legends churns out like 15 waves a year regularly... If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say they're trying to appeal to older fans, and it's cheaper to just not make toys of sequel characters (so that those older fans can wax poetic about how Disney ruined the toyline) than it is to make toys of anyone else.
Whatever their deal is with Lucasfilm/Disney, it's defintiely different than Marvel/Disney. Star Wars costs a lot and it seems like Hasbro has been playing it extremely safe lately. But either way there should be pretty much no difference in costs between making a figure from the OT or Mandalorian and a figure from the sequel trilogy. They're the only ones with the US Star Wars license, having different tiers of pricing within a license doesn't make much sense. They pretty much have carte blanche.
I guess. I haven't seen much ML lately either though. The ShangChi stuff must've gone to $3 clearance before the movie hit theatres because the piles of them vanished. Eternals should be out now (it's not but it should be) but it seemed like a weak wave even if the movie had hit when it was supposed to. I don't know, I think I should finally give up on retail.
In a rare change of events, Pulse has actually shipped a Star Wars fig and didn't delay it! Wrecker just shipped!
You are being redirected... Taking a prediction that the second wave will be Beskar mando Heavy infantry mandalorian Armorer Dark trooper Boba fett Bo Katan Ahsoka tano
I like those possibilities. Don't know if we'll get a Cobb Vanth so soon, but it would be nice. We'll have a whole shelf of 5 POA Mandos before we know it!
Something else interesting from Yakface - https://mobile.twitter.com/yak_face/status/1437772015713259524 The hashtags for Lucasfilm’s 50th and “Look sir, Droids” and the mention of the Droids cartoon in the back of the Tartakovsky Clone Wars VC figures makes me think it’ll be from the old Droids cartoon. Ive only watched part of one episode on Disney+ and it’s. . . Weird. . . But I’d totally be up for a a repaint of VC R2-D2 to look like the cartoon!
