Last year i got a flawed box for rather cheap for my Deathsaurus, decided to make some restorations for a nice display

Missing both side flaps, folded, sticker residue, some rips, scracthes, all the usual for your usual 32 year old box, it could barely stand!

I asked for high res pics or scans around but no one came to the rescue, a local friend took some pics of his sample but inside an acrillic case, so at least i was able to use as reference to make new new Flaps, i had to scan the top piece from my box, cleaned the toy image and make new japanese font by hand. Printed on cardboard and cut to size

First test was a success! altought i made a little mistake with the alignment of the text (and size), i later reprinted and corrected that

Now the box, stands much better with this litte support

In the next update, ill fix the missing pieces of the artwork!

    Update time!

I had to repair these chunks of missing pieces, the feet, the wing, close to the end of the box

    Foto 03-08-21 12 52 57.jpg

First, i scanned the box, cleaned the pic and tried to color match the missing pieces with existing artwork (ended using a smaller artwork found in the bottom of the box, to better match the hue of the print). The final stickers to be used as pictured here before choosing the closest match

To reinforce the box, in these spots, i glued with white glue and my trusty friend: Cardboard tape trimmed and layered

The sticker was carefully trimmed to only cover the missing print, and about 2-3 mm around. Is unnoticeable unless you look extremely close, great for display!

Same process with the wing as pictured here, altough i had to use two stickers, one for the background and one for the leg (for a better color match)

Im not retouching or applying stickers to the creases on the artwork, because is not as noticeable as the missing bits and i prefer to preserve the original print as much as posible

    Next update, Top Flap!

Great job. If I can make a suggestion. I would have take the demension and slowly reconstruction in PS. I would google image. Go to the tool section in Google change size of image to large. This will provide better images. Sometimes you get some and some time you do not. But since you have from and back can reconstruction of the entire box.

Thanks! but problem is, you can never find high quality pics of these boxes. Trust me, i have months searching and asking for help!. But it really varies from figure to figure (i was able to make a nice Liokaiser box from scratch using various sources)
