There's literally no reason for this.

 

It'd also just be pretty lazy to fall back on that plot element yet again.

It didn't make any sense in the 2007 movie (So Megatron can travel through the impossibly cold vacuum of space on his own and be totally fine but once he lands on Earth and falls through the ice he's suddenly able to be frozen?) and the only reason they'd do it here would be as a reference / shallow attempt at some mangled form of 'continuity'.

Furthermore it doesn't exactly do any favors to him as a character either.

To be fair you could argue the ice particles are what caused Megatron to freeze at the Arctic...space would have colder temperatures, but no water/ice. Technically I don't think we've ever seen the (movieverse) Transformers functioning in an Artic environment before.

 

I don't want him on Earth period before the Autobots ever got there. It completely trivializes the war on Cybertron if Megatron wasn't, y'know, leading his army. The only reason he should ever want to be on Earth is to destroy the Autobots.

I think what @Autobot Burnout means is that he hopes he is not there Frozen like the Michael Bay movies. Because him being Frozen is dumb, limits what you can do, and makes no logical sense within its own framework.
