Has Kobra Khan shown up on packaging anywhere? I think that's the sole character out of the first three waves that I can't recall showing up, but I don't have all the Origins boxart handy anywhere. Wonder if his gimmick warrants a deluxe release, like if they wanted to toss in a hood-extended head or not.
Go non mint package at a discount figures from Entertainment Earth. The package on these figures were actually in better condition than figures I have purchased from Target.com at full price…
I don’t think jitsu’s hand will be vac metal because Fisto’s fist wasn’t. They are enemies and their appearances should be mirrored.
I forgot about Moss Man. I hope Meckaneck and Moss Man will come out soon. As a kid I didn’t like Meckaneck since his power was lame but I always considered him a core character. He don’t do much in filmation but he was always around in the background. With Clawful coming out, with the Evil Warriors - just really need Whiplash.
I think he was on Roboto’s card back. So following Axel on IG, I do notice he posts some random pics of characters or catalogue photos sometimes and later on a lot of those get announced. Like months before the Sun Man thing came out he put a pic of a cool custom. Looking over some recent posts he’s put up Spikor, Tung Lashor, lots of movie He-Man, Skeletor and Evil Lyn, the Flying Fists/Terror Claws variants along with the Laser Power ones. Also lots of Snake Mountain, POP catalogue pics, Tytus & Megator, Gygor, Modulok several times and many of those new card back characters based on concepts or old art. Wasn’t it the 30th anniversary when management wanted to introduce new characters to the line which turned into Toyguru and friends? Maybe they have same initiative for the 40th but dating back to old box art and such. I’m making a big bowl of popcorn for that panel! It’d be cool if these hints came true.
I had to check on this and you are right. Interestingly his vintage art work has the same characters...
I would love for Jitsu to have a vac metal hand but seeing as Mattel didn't apply vac metal for BA He-Man, it's unlikely Jitsu would get it. I'd love to be wrong, though!
Exactly my thoughts. I like the idea of gimmicks like vac metal but as often the case with toy gimmicks, the novelty comes at the cost of practicality. Vac metal is great to look at but once it is marred, it gets ugly real fast.
Meckaneck and Moss Man are probably my last two wants from this line. I've pretty much just stuck to core characters I remember from the old show and playing with toys at friend's houses...and those two would pretty much wrap it up for me.
My fondest memories as a kid in the 1980s with the Heroic Warriors was playing with Roboto and Sy-Klone. My current #1 want is Sy-Klone. I remember as a kid really wanting Tri-Klops, Trap Jaw, and Man-E-Faces but I never found them. I paid double retail pricing for all 3 to get the Origins versions ASAP. I never had Meckaneck as a kid but I know he’s a core character and I’m happy to check one off the list. I remember as a little kid I had way more bad guys and clearly remember owning Mosquitor, Two Bad, Modulok, Dragstor, king Hiss, Webstor, Stinkor, Leech, Tung Lashor, Ssssqueeze, Kobra Khan, and Rattlor. From what I can tell as a 6/7 year old I had all the Snake Men except for Snake Face, which I don’t remember that character at all. That’s why I’m highly anticipating the Snake Men; even though, I am not a big fan in general of snakes or reptiles:l.
I think the only MOTU figure my brother and I had back then was a battle armor Skeletor! I watched the show religiously, though. It was my absolute favorite toon until Transformers came out. A couple of my friends had just about every toy from the first couple years of the series, it seemed, so I got my toy fix during visits. It’s nice to finally have my own versions of those characters.
As a kid growing up in the early 1980s my biggest toys love was Transformers and He-man. I had tons of toys as a kid but mostly He-Man, GI Joes, and WWF since those were smaller and cheaper figures. I had a lot of GI Joes. I never had any Transformers toys as a kid - they were more expensive due to the die cast. About 7 years ago when I got a big promotion at work, I was on a nostalgic trip and and bought every single transformers I wanted as a kid but couldn’t afford. Goal was complete the 1984-1985 cast. Now 7 years later I got over 600 Transformers. I wished I was collecting He-Man during classics. MOTU Origins brought me back to collecting He-Man. I got a 6 year old son now and I wanted to have a big MOTU collection for him. He is about the same age I was when I started to play with MOTU.
