We have complained about the price of this thing from the beginning but now that ship has sailed with the changes in the market. I have the FH version that has sold quite a bit so this may not sell that well but again it probably will because of the current climate. I don't foresee any of it coming out this year. We have seen preproduction prototypes without paint for Super Ginrai but not Godbomber. I suspect they have a prototype for that one and want to release all of them close together sometime next year to move the money tree along.

I don't have any info but it looks like the KFC brand is getting put on the back burner to focus on XTB. There are a couple tape release 2.0s for Steeljaw and Ramhorn but the only other release that could come out of there are Buster and Hydra after the last of the Junkions. Deathsaurus was originally designed for KFC in early 2016 by Zyros who is a member of this board but I don't know if the current design for XTB is that original design.

 

I never really paid attention to the prices on this guy until recently as the latest images of him piqued my interest. Just taking notice now, it seems like XTB/KFC really struggles to price their stuff "correctly". Some stuff has felt like a steal...other stuff feels like it's armed robbery. Just strange.

 

I agree with you about them but it appears to make money they have to make some big progress after doing very little over the past few years in terms of new releases. They have exhausted their reissues unlike FT. For the rest of this year I am still in a believe it when I see it but it appears Groove, Kup, and Springer, and maybe Prosecutor. Next year looks like Perceptor, more Defensor, Junkions, Omnibots. I would put Galvatron, Deathsaurus, Autobot X, Runabout/Runamuck, Doublespy in 2023. That still leaves God Ginrai, Ultra Magnus, Jailer, Elita One, Grapple, Inferno, Buster, Hydra as releases left incomplete.

In their best year they put out 7-8 new releases but have been averaging about 3 since. This is a company that had a questionable reputation about quality and then put out over a dozen figures in their most prolific span that were quality and then backtracked with Dragstrip and Kup. Just like that they have had to go into overdrive to repair their image yet again. There really is no excuse for this because this company has always had the ability to be far better but continually chooses to cut corners that keep them stuck in the mud. We need them and FT to carry G1 MP over the finish line because it is a rapidly disappearing market. Fans Hobby and Zeta help a little but FT and XTB drive the train. 3 figures a year and piss poor quality that requires you to provide a replacement figure isn't going to cut it. Whether I buy any that's coming out is dependent on getting my replacement Kup from TFS-Express.

The most frustrating aspect with XTB/KFC has always been that I believe they have the best designs even over FT but will skimp on the cost of something that is supposed to feel premium and has a premium price.

Market/stakeholders can refer to consumers and it can also refer to suppliers. Companies no longer producing figures or G1 MP predominantly include Maketoys, Unique Toys, DX9, Fans Hobby, Bad Cube also TT is not as focused as it was in the beginning and we have lost a lot of smaller one off companies. Mostly, FT and XTB drive things with some figures from Fans Hobby some one offs and combiners from Zeta but that's one figure really.

Here market can also refer to consumers of G1 MP. I am a great example...of someone that went too far, much farther than most collectors will go. I have zero interest in future toy lines even though I have some cheap KO Bayverse MP and some Beast Wars. Zero interest in the main line or Legends. I will be completely out once G1 MP runs its course. We are a few combiners away from completing Victory, a couple of Headmasters and Targetmasters from finishing Headmasters, SGMF is pretty open. S1 is completely done with some better versions coming out and announced. With some side figures S2 also finished. Some combiners and side figures remain for S3. Other collectors will come along for other lines but I definitely think G1 MP collectors make up a large portion of the market and have or will peace out at some point in the near future. XTB's obscure releases have come at an opportune time. I will wait for others but how many will? I want a Whirl, Roadbuster, Top Spin, Twintwist (replacing Mech Ideas versions), Autobot/Decepticon Clones, Duocons, etc. I want reimagined Pretenders and not the fat shells but how likely is that to happen?

 

In a nutshell TT will always be the big fish in the MP market. Some folks buy 3P as temporary placeholders only.

 

On what planet? After MP-30, over 90% of my MPs are ALL 3P. That was over 5 years ago. MP is a hobby for TT, they simply don't invest in it or make enough of them anymore to warrant that statement. I chose 3P over TT for Seekers. In the days of MP-13 your statement holds a lot of value but as we speak Acoustic Wave that was canceled because of MP-13 is finally coming out and will replace MP-13 for me. TT is putting out a MP Raiden and just like I chose Zeta Unicron over Haslab I am also choosing Zeta Raiden over TT. Again, you have to look at niche "markets". TT's market is Hasbro main line 10-20MM people. The MP, let alone G1, market worldwide is something so minuscule my guess would be ridiculously wrong, ~10-20K. Half of that may buy a few figures and maybe 10-20% are as crazy as me and buying most of what comes out. I am just guessing out of my ass and cannot imagine how small the % of TT's revenue.

What new MP figures is TT putting out, a Cliffjumper rehash of Bumblebee? That is not a figure that excites me over FT or even the XTB version I own that I prefer. Do I expect the things that TT puts out to sell? Of course but that is still few and far between. TT will not beat FT in quality. I still prefer my FT Willis over the TT Hound. MP Star Saber had poor quality materials and required 3P fixes from XTB of all companies to improve the quality. If anything 3P has kept the hobby alive for TT to continue to dabble in it from time to time. TT wants to make OP, Megs, SS, Bumblebee over and over again. They will go further when there are repaints like Sunstreaker and Skids. At best TT puts out 2-3 figures a year. XTB beats that and FT dwarfs it. The placeholder theory that everyone will wait until 2030 for TT to put out their Galvatron doesn't hold up. Life is short and I doubt TT sees it that way either.

You can disagree all you want, doesn't mean you're right. Reading any official announcement thread gives all the proof you want. I've personally gone with TT with all of their versions bar 1 and I fully expect them to come out with a v2 Soundwave that will be epic too.
