I've never seen that brought up on the topic. Maybe periodical cleanings will cut down on the effects, but it is something that is happening at such a fine molecular level and more of a stain than a residue which is why it takes using baking soda or hydrogen peroxide and exposing the parts to UV light while submerged that is bleaching the plastic back to it's natural color..

The restoration process to this 1978 Millennium Falcon is nothing short of amazing. May give some incite into this subject. It shows the process you mention, with using UV light and a chemical bath.

I watch a few different Youtubers that restore including that guy and it is incredible. Years ago when I first saw it done it was like I was 5 watching a magic show for the first time, so amazed! It had me instantly curious knowing that the yellowing was not just on the surface so how did it work? Was there any risk in further degradation our inflicting new damage? Of course like tons of topics there is a huge debate on whether it does or doesn't degrade the plastic any further. From looking into it it's my opinion that it doesn't and if a plastic is more brittle it isn't from this process rather just the time the plastic has existed and is becoming naturally more brittle over time. I think it's a great way to get the original color back to something without resorting to sanding, priming, and painting to give it a new finish.

I'm specifically talking about the aesthetic decision to make figures look more soft, doughy, and rounded, and the design philosphy of achieving this perfect doughy toon look from the front while shifting all the messy compromises to the sides and back.

In terms of articulation, Sunstreaker may very well have been a big jump, but I couldn't tell you since I never put my figures into crazy action poses anyway. All the poses I put Sunstreaker into are also achievable by most other MPs. I mainly only notice when a character lacks decent head articulation, since I like to be able to have them look in various directions while doing simple, stoic poses.

As for engineering, I think MP-36 was the big jump forward there, as that's still one of the most complex MP transformations. Also Inferno is notable for the engineering magic they pulled off to make it so clean, especially when they couldn't be arsed to clean up Ironhide's hip flaps (something that would have been really simple to do) earlier that same year. How did Ironhide get such a raw deal there?

I get what you're saying, but to me Hot Rod/Ironhide and Sunstreaker aren't just two ends of the spectrum of one design philosophy, it's like they're from two different planets.

Now that’s more like it! It’s going to be great seeing them all together!! Wow! The Boyz are back in town! Oh yeah!

when I see the Jet mode I instantly think of Starscream on the tar Mac on that airbase trying to create energon cubes. It looks like a real life version of the cartoon jet!

Apparently, there's a Harlem on Cybertron too and at least one (but probably both, if we're going by this pic) of old Megs' parents is from there. I knew there was a reason I just had to root for him. I'll have to ask my cousins if they've seen him around.

Not too sure if you guys can see this video link. He basically solved the flipping of the arms during transformation. I'm truly amazed. Can someone try it? My copy is still on the way :(

    https://b23.tv/WZkxlh

You just have to make the entire arm assembly into a "L" using the 2 joints and flip it around. And the 2 screws will be facing outwards for transformation.
