Just depends on whether you want a G1 Grimlock or IDW Grimlock.

My MP-08 is a good enough G1 Grimmy for me. I like the look of Cacus and the IDW design a lot, and am waiting hopefully for a G2 repaint. Then I'd have two Grimlocks with vastly different designs and colour schemes.

 

I agree with the previous statement. It’s really up to whether you want a G1 Toy/toon Grimmy or IDW Comic style. I have GP and I love him, and I’m also getting Cacus for my IDW display. I’d probably say if your display is largely MP and G1 then definitely go GP.

 

Come on guys. The right answer is OBVIOUSLY Studio 86 Grimlock!!!  

 

Honestly tho he's the best Grimlock that Hasbro has ever done (excluding MP)

I have him with the upgrade kits, and he's just mediocre.

 

Oh I agree he leaves a lot to be desired in dino mode but he's pretty good in robot mode (still plan to get all the Dinobots tho).

 

You jest, but considering his price, size, and functionality, he is a really good Grimlock. Probably the best CHUG Grimlock so far.

Eh, I joke, but at the same time, I like to think Ben just keeps an overly optimistic view on things, especially when many others don't. I get being critical, but when some reviewers practically invent reasons to be unhappy with a release, it's nice to have someone doing the opposite to balance it out.

Also, Ben is entirely the reason I picked up PX Vulcan years ago, and a big reason I not only got back into collecting, but 3P releases especially, so it's hard for me to fault the guy, even if his optimism doesn't always feel entirely genuine.

I feel a little saddened that the collar on the dino neck was changed to black as well. Granted it blends in a lot better and doesn't look out of place, but it's nowhere near as striking as the red was - in either form.

Maybe they're including an exchange panel for that, too?
