Not to be ‘that guy’ but hasn’t Hasbro got nothing to do with this? It was shown off at the same time as Star Convoy & was a completely Takara design, like the Masterpiece figures.

It’d be like getting angry at Takara for Hasbro cancelling some GI Joe prototypes they showed off just because Takara imported ‘A Real American Hero’ to Japan back in the day.

And considering Armada Prime’s popularity, the only reason I see it being cancelled is they’re working with Hasbro to make a different one instead.

We never got BW Neo Unicron, but we waited a bit longer & got the Armada Unicron instead, which I think is far superior. It sucks we have to wait, but sometimes this does result in a better product.

 

apparently after Aprils Fan Fest they said "stay tuned". One can only infer this means Armada is dead forever, and those damn Transformers fans are to blame!

Personally I think it's hard to make Armada Prime a decent toy at a price that works for the current lines. Lets face it...take off the nostalgia glasses and the combined Armada Prime was a garbage toy. Only head and arm articulation? Seriously? You know what most every other Optimus Prime has that Armada Prime doesn't? KNEES! Maybe even feet if you discount those stumps. So only slightly more articulated than Spychanger Optimus but at a Leader class price? Armada had some really good toys (Bendy Prime was great, just apparently he can't choose pants that work to save his life) but Super Mode Prime ranks down there with Scavenger, Smokescreen and Sideswipe.

 

Don't worry, Takara will find a way to cram the recent G1 MP complexity into an MP Armada Prime. It just wouldn't be a Takara release without some kind of substantial QC issue.

 

Gotta tell ya, there's a sick part of me that would laugh if commander class Armada Prime was the Target collectors reveal Friday.

I just hate it for the UT and TFA guys. I know how much it stunk to go 20 years with only 4 Beast Wars before hitting the Promised Kingdom.

 

Everyone knows gimmicks > articulation, the auto-transformation makes it a good toy.
But that's why we want a new one, so he can go from Super Brick to Super Base.

 

The Armada toys were done so dirty by nearly all of their gimmicks. Fans of these characters deserve properly articulated updates!

That's...actually a fair argument. Last night, I was immediately thrown into despair over the apparent cancellation, but factoring in how Armada's popularity was so apparent in both the West and East that when Takara showed off a simple prototype, it got everyone responding like crazy that they resorted to asking Hasbro reps about it (when they had zero involvement with the prototype), it does sound more likely that perhaps HasTak (or just Takara) are brainstorming a new-er take on Armada Prime. Maybe via the Masterpiece line?

Especially in light of the fact that the show's upcoming 20th anniversary is next year.

 

Anyone else itching for a core class superion so we can get more tiny transforming planes.

 

I never knew I wanted this, but it's now my second most wanted combiner.

My number one is that I still want to custom a CW LSOTW combiner of Pyro (POTP Inferno, done), Rotorstorm (Vortex type), Impactor (Rook type from TFSS, done), Guzzle (Brawl type), and Iron Fist (Swindle type).
Just so when Rotorstorm yells "Wreckers combine!" and Overlord reaches for his head, the scene plays out a lot differently.  

 

It could be worse...try being a fan of the original characters from G2...

 

I know. G2 was an afterthought for me until everyone on the boards reintroduced it to me. And now I'm buying all of it. So freaking thanks everyone...
 

 

I wonder if the failure of the Micromasters put a halt on Armada Prime, especially if it has a Micromaster base type mode...Retailers seeing "Look Minicons" will just see renamed Micromasters and say "pass". I was really hoping to see the Micromasters have the Minicons included in their line and UT figures coming in as a natural progression of the line...but then Walmart killed them.

 

Given Legacy(/Kingdom??) Blaster is said to be coming with Eject, I think we can expect some Minicons, but only if they're packed in with larger figures of Armada guys. No separate Minicon packs most likely.
