My status on the 501st Clones was the same as Snake Eyes was for a few days "awaiting product availability". Also, I think this archive wave has been found in the wild so it may be possible that it ships soon.
My hope would be for Shipwreck that his classified look would be "in the spirit of" his character. Something along the lines of the Dollar General wave 1 release in the 3.75" line. Maybe a blue shirt with a knit cap and definitely a parrot, but less SEAL or diver and more Sailor. S7 will do a full blown 85' Sunbow character of his, that's a given. Then Mezco, I don't have any experience with their figures, but it seems like 'Wreck is tailor made for their style. Soft goods hat (sailor and knit), blue shirt, dark blue dungarees. Maybe they could give him a tactical vest option like 'Block, maybe even a life jacket to add over top of the Sailor outfit. Regardless, it is absolutely fantastic to think that we could possibly see 3 very distinct and different iterations of our favorite Sailor in the very near future.
I think if anyone is going to get the Navy Seal update with gear, it's gonna be Torpedo. He's actually listed as one on his file card, and I'm not sure the grey and black dive suit is going to get the job done. He's more the guy I see being sent out against EELs and Hydro Vipers. Shipwreck is listed as a Gunner's Mate and machinist, so according to a limited googling he's more around missile launches, underwater explosives, weapons mounts and the like. Maybe that's why everyone lets the parrot thing slide. Personally, I have no beef with his uniform. I like that it represents an actual service uniform, even if it's no longer in use. Sure, some people may equate it more with Shore Leave from Venture Brothers now, but a good parody just doesn't erase that history. Navy blues and parrot for me, but that's no reason to not make a more updated version for anyone who wants it. There's room for both to exist.
Sorry for the triple post but I know a lot of you guys have military backgrounds. My middle daughter is now an official soldier as she passed the Forge test this week, to God be the glory. The pic is when she was given trainee of the week a few weeks back. Thanks to all of you who are or have served our country, thank you for protecting our freedom.
I have a pending charge on my CC from Target on Sept. 5. Only thing I have preordered is BBQ. Are these shipping early?
Target pings your card about once a week to make sure it's still valid. The charge will never post and roll off... about the time they do it again. It's a bizarre way to handle pre-orders. But until they send you a ship-notice, I wouldn't get excited. It'll happen several more times before he ships.
I had to change CC after my wallet was jacked. Lost a preorder on a RAM due to a ping, thought i changed payment information but only changed the default. Heads up to anyone who else gets ef’d.
And the POC Spirit **IS** Spirit. What's the problem? Spirit is a character, not a look. He can change and not be a blast stereotype.
My challenge with this is that is means the balance is always carried on my card - even if the order isn’t scheduled to process for six months. For this reason I’m going to begin limiting my preorders at Target to only exclusives.
Turning Shipwreck into a SEAL was a terrible idea when they did it in the 90’s and a terrible idea now. Being a SEAL isn’t the only valuable role in the Navy; it’s a awful idea that only SEALs would have value to the Joe team and Shipwreck has to be one to be meaningful. The Devil’s Due watch cap and sweater remains the best design for a shipwreck to this day. It’s a classic sailor look without being outdated like dungarees.
Agree to disagree but quite literally as it stands Shipwreck is just a Gunners Mate and Mechanic. I find it an awful stretch for him to be on the Joe team. As I said before at least Keel Haul is commanding his own CVN(And I like in his file card he is a career aviator working his way up the chain of command). A CVN that works with and supports Joe operations. But you don't really see Flagg sailors going out and doing covert GO Joe ops. Shipwreck isn't even a SWCC, which can keep him a "regular" sailor but not a SEAL. As a SWCC he has a vital role of operating small vessels that are intended to insert and support special operators in amphibious missions.
Technically Shipwreck was a bit of a mercenary pirate when he joined. In Revenge of Cobra he had a land sail and gave the joes a lift. They recruited him. He was more of a rogue than anything. Keep him in classic look, but give him more of a pirate backstory. He was more grey area on morality scale than his team mates. He was lazy, took shortcuts, etc. probably would not out right break major laws, but would skirt them. He'd likely smuggle and sell minor contraband items, but never guns or drugs. He will fight Cobra and protect innocents, but he'd also cheat at cards.
Pretty much my point. Why would one of the more undergeared characters be overloaded with more gear than other characters when the whole line is a simplified fantasy meant to highlight characters over gear? Anyways, as mentioned, they’ll probably make all kinds for whoever likes what.
Don't be sorry hell it would be badass if there was a custom of her as a Joe operative. Why not, heck I'm doing that with my late brother. Also congrats to her passing the test and becoming a soldier.
Except GI Joe isn’t simply a combat infantry team. The majority of Joe members are not part of special forces or special warfare prior to joining the Joe’s.
I'd just like to take this opportunity to point out Shipwreck saved the Joe's asses more times than anyone in the Sunbow toon.
