I'm looking at reissues of Black Series The Mandalorian Stormtroopers. How many would you buy for an army?
If you want the plain old undamaged armor version, BBTS has a pre-order open for the second wave. They're never fast but you're guaranteed to get them. If you're talking about the target exclusive remenant troopers, there's gonna be no good way. You'll be stuck paying scalper prices wherever you find them. I personally gave up and went with the old Stormtrooper with Blast accessories since the armor is a bit damaged and it has cool blast effects anyway. Less money, cool effects, and you still get that battle damaged look. I'm mixing those in with a few Figuarts Mimban STs to get that hardup look for the storm trooper I'm gonna have with my SH Beskar Mando. For quantity, I think it depends on what you're displaying. For just my Beskar Mando I've got him facing down 5 STs. I dont knowbhow many you'd really need if he's throwing down with Imperial remenants. Edit: sorry I've got a cold and misread.
Yep, looking for the undamaged ones. Just thinking about how many to get. Just depends on what a real army count is.
Yeah, sorry I'm all hopped up cold pills and struggled with reading comprehension there. It depends on what you want to do though, right? If you want post-empire troopers for a Mandolrian setup do you need that many? Even when they sent a drop ship at him when he was with Fett, and Fennec, they still didn't have that many troopers. I dont think that you need a full on army since you're talking about Imperial Remenants in that era, and he never faced down the full might of what they could muster. A good 6 or 7 is a lot of Cheddar and would look pretty solid for most situations. If you're talking about GE era, then you'd probably need more, but you can still work up to whatever you wanna fill the diorama with, right?
Alternate perspective: I don’t army build any single trooper. However, I try to get one copy of just about every trooper I come across (except the Gaming/Clone Wars stuff). I even break my “OT only” rule for troopers. If you want to army build a single trooper, the number of copies required to reach army status is pretty subjective. I’d think you’d need at least 10 to start looking crazy, haha. That gets expensive quick, though. But, if I were to army build any trooper, it would probably be the one you have in mind. That mold is great.
Sounds like you want to replicate an actual army? It looks like the US has around 400,000. Should be good with that amount give or take a few thousand. Googling Star Wars numbers, seems like over a billion if you count all of them stationed on every Star Destroyer. This site has a breakdown of how they were split up into different groups if you want to give your wallet a bit of a break. Imperial Army/Legends
I have 15 18 already. If they really are coming back out in force and this isn't just limited to select e-tailers I wouldn't mind tracking down a few more. But I also may just wait for the Rogue One Patrol Troopers and grab extras of those. Edit: Ok, guess I missed 3 in my first count.
Death, and shore have been in stock for a minute on HBP. BBTS has had POs open for awhile now on the plain jane troopers from the Mandalorian wave, so at some point there should be some more coming down the pipeline from them. Might take awhile but I've never had them cancel an order on me.
I have 4 now, got 2 more on preorder for even half dozen and calling that good. They are truely fantastic figures, lightyears ahead of previous releases for articulation.
You thought so? I didn't hate mine by any means, but I wasn't blown away when I compared it to my stormtroopers with blast accessories, or the few Figuarts that I had. I ended up gifting the two I ordered to my son since I wanted the more battle damaged look for anytime I was setting up Imperials, and rarely wanted that little bit of extra articulation over effects.
Maybe it was how they were packaged, but the old Stormtroopers felt and looked a bit too stiff. The new one (imo) is much better.
It's almost here, the next Fan First for Star Wars. Really hoping for the next wave of Black Series, plus Deluxe Cobb Vanth.
