To clarify, it's not because I have any hate for BB 2.0 and thus would never defile my shelf with a remold of that figure.  
No, I want the FT Cliff for the same reason I got the MakeToys Grapple and MMC Inferno: because even though they look similar and were identical as toys, unlike the Seekers they're not supposed to be physically identical to each other and should look like different expressions of a similar design goal.
I want that difference in styling, proportions, and engineering so that my mini-cars look like cousins, not twins.

I'm worried thei may not be released now that Takara is releasing theirs. Maybe the Robot paradise line is for figures that are too close for takara comfort so if the company goes after them Fans Toys line is immune. I would not be surprised if this was released under the Robot Paradise umbrella.

Man I hope not. I wouldnt consider cliffjumper an A or B character. Since he is good at getting chopped up maybe FT can sell him in 2 packages and we have to put him back together.

Yeah I’ll wait as long as I need to for this one. The Takara Cliffjumper just isn’t going to cut it

 

I am pretty sure FansToys will release their figure as originally planned. Two reasons:

1) This figure looks considerably better than the Takara figure.

2) Like Takara, there is a dedicated group of collectors who will buy out FansToys' inventory regardless of their sins.

 

Not to mention the release on Takara's is still uncertain. We have absolutely no word on when it'll come out, just had various prototype shots.

Either way i'm good. I'm double-dipping on both Takara's and Fans Toys' anyway.

 

I have no doubt that Takara is releasing their version. May be next year but it is going to happen.

There's no small coincidence that the newest movie has a Porsche in it.

 

If this and TT Cliffjumper both were available right now, based on what we've seen so far I'd take the FT one. Without a doubt. I hope FT won't get scared and put Parkour on ice for the next 5 years. There's no need for that.

 

If TT showed a prototype of Trailbreaker and Hoist you know FT would shelve theirs too just like they will shelve this. No way will they step on TT now when they have known to pull back before.

 

I don’t believe this to be the case. FT have a proven track record of releasing their own versions of figures TT have released or are about to release.
There is a feeling that FT may avoid some of the bigger characters, but Cliffjumper, Hoist and Trailbreaker aren’t any of those.
FT will sometimes delay figures, but that’s down to issues with the designs, not pressure from other companies.

 

They probably don’t have to hold back releasing figures around the same time as the official anymore since the rumor was that the FT price increases were to pay Takara fees to remain in operation.

Everything at this point is speculation because the odds are that Soundwave V.2 is on the horizon and FT is scheduled to drop Acoustic Wave soon.

XTB appears to be taking on FT head on with Janssen and their roster of renders. I am just excited to see how this all unfolds. This is like Optimus playing chicken with Motormaster.

 

For me it all depends. I buy TT and FT for entirely different reasons. FT is my bot mode display piece, and anything Takara is so that I can appreciate the engineering of it. I love my Hoodlum but it's a too fat a car, and an awful and unituitive transformation. Takara by contrast nails the alt mode and offers a shot for shot transformation of TFTM.

Took my years to decide that I wanted the larger bot mode over that, and I could bring myself to chose one to keep by reassuring myself that I still had an MP-09, and would only need the Hoodlum for recreating the matrix transformation scene. Because of that I'd want a more premium looking HR over one with an amazing transformation. I try to only have one of each figure, and made a different choice with Shockwave, but I may legitimately not be able to chose with the upcoming RP release. If both Takara and FT keep Cliffjumper at 150, I probably won't even try to either. FT has a hole line for hiding things they're worried about IP lawsuits under now, and I'm hoping if they have concerns they'll just fold Cliffjumper into the RP line.

 

FT/RP and TT for main characters. XTB for the niche stuff. Make Toys can finish the autobot headmasters. Zeta for the remaining combiners. KFC...Go-Bots!!!!
