Definitely not a 5v5 movie

 

That plan actually sounded quite solid. It's super disappointing they modified it to whatever this will end up being...yikes.

 

So we were THAT close to getting the sort of movie that most people were hoping for... But then, what the hell happened?

 

How can you smash two scripts together?

 

I want to note that the whole "smashing the scripts together" thing is speculation on my part. If I was an optimist, I could speculate that the Beast Wars stuff was added to lead into the separate Beast Wars movie... but based on Paramount's history of combining TF scripts and the apparent prevalence of beast characters in the movie, I think the first option is way more likely.

 

That sounds like the movie I wanted to see.  

By taking two separate stories and running them together, like TLK did. It's not usually a good thing.

 

I personally don't think they put 2 scripts together. I'm still thinking there is a distinct Beast Wars script out there that takes place in the prehistoric past. I bet that film is also planned to happen separately later on. What I'm thinking what they tried doing is amp up the spectacle in this Bumblebee sequel so added in the Beasts we are going to see in a later movie and just introduce them early on but as an older version of them. Though, I still think that makes things super convoluted. I wish they kept the simpler story they originally planned.

 

The last knight also had 6 editors which is another reason why it’s a mess.

 

Feature Creep. I said it earlier, maybe in this thread or in another, but I honestly have to wonder if they are still trying to forge ahead with the whole TFCU thing and completely ignored the fact they screwed it all up AND the fact this kind of excessive front-loading of all the concepts at once is why every single other cinematic universe other than the MCU has failed.

 

So, more or less, things are looking like this movie is, functionally, a setup for a Beast Wars movie, which would, in effect, just, be a departure from the movieverse, as much Beast Wars was a departure from G1.

So, they're probably thinking, "why go through the trouble of properly rebooting, when we can jump ship to that other thing that looks different enough to general audiences to give the impression of a reboot, and do the same old yolo crap we've been doing there for a few years?"

So, in effect... Let's waste Beast Wars as well, before we go down. Thanks again Lorenzo.

 

It's hard to not think this is the case.

 

All my hopes are on Steven Caple jr.He cares about the characters and franchise and said he will explore optimus.

I think he still only sees the franchise as some large specatcle driven thing and thinks the robots alone can't carry a story...despite nearly 40 years of franchise history proving otherwise.

He honestly just needs to retire, nothing his name has been attached to that he's had a large hand in producing has turned out good in over a decade.

 

This + Travis Knight = The Perfect Transformers film.

 

Please make this man go away... Please, people... Don't go to watch his movies. Please.

 

Given how Snake Eyes floundered, it definitely would be a hard sell for this guy to be involved with anything if ROTB fails.

 

God. I'm starting to think my initial reaction to the press release of this movie was right. We are starting to get a sample size of data points that's suggests a bumpy ride  .

Help us Caple Jr. you are our only hope.

 

I wonder if the reason Travis didn't come back is that he didn't like the idea of this convoluted film. We've heard him quoted saying he had ideas on where he'd like the future films to go. I find it strange he has suddenly dropped off in the Transformers world after that. I find it even stranger we haven't been given a reason by Lorenzo either. Or they didn't even ask Travis thinking he wouldn't be able to film a big budget film (like Chalk wasn't asked to voice Primal). Whatever it is, something doesn't seem right.
