Whatever happened to this line? Just prior to covid, I bought the Guttur (stegosaurus) and Gassor (triceratops) in weathered metallic version. Supposedly, the rest of the Dinobots will be made in the weathered version, but I have not seem them yet. Is this company still around?
They are currently reissuing the dinobots in the chrome finish. Grassor and guttur received the updated heads from the weathered versions. Their 3rd reissue, graviter, apparently has the old style heads. I don't think anyone really knows what they're doing though, unfortunately.
Gigapower has always been an odd beast. They release a figure, then nothing for two years, and then suddenly three figures released back to back. They aren't gone, but when it comes to Gigapower, be prepared to be in it for the long haul.
The factory and designer behind Gigapower specialize in Gundam KOs and OCs; their hand in 3p Transformers is more of a side hobby for them it seems, so no wonder they are very slow with releases and communication. They're very much alive (the Moshow Takeda Shingen looks pretty sick), but I wouldn't be surprised if they never finish the weathered line. Perhaps the current reissues of Chrome dinobots is a tease that they'll continue the weathered line next year or in 2023. But I don't think their heart is really in Transformers so who knows.
Looking at their facebook page (abandoned in March 2020), I reckon they lost some staff when covid hit, which effectively caused the weathered run to be scrapped. That would explain why rather than 'The rest of Gigasaurs will follow' as per their FB post, production restarted with the chrome re-issues.
Side question, between Chrome and normal metallic version, which is better in your opinion? I know only Chrome is in re-issue right now, not the normal metallic one. I want to buy the GP dinos, but hesitated since I'm worry the chrome is not suitable for playing around.
Metallic for me - the sheer amount of chrome on swoop kinda spoils the whole set in my opinion. And because these guys are so big, the amount of reflections and glare they introduce (especially in dino mode) can make them look a mess. Display the ko reissues of the G1 toys to alongside them if you really miss the chrome.
I prefer the Chrome, but honestly both are great. Metallic Gigabots come with more accessories too, which is nice. I think the Chrome stands out better and so far I have no had any issues with chrome chipping from multiple transformations, but I'm incredibly careful with these figures haha. edit: yeah Takeda Shingen is looking great - still haven't decided whether I want to get it though as it doesn't fit in with anything I have, but I love the design, articulation, accessories, and the fact it has a freaking magnetic stand. They went all out! I wish it had better color breakup though.
Thanks, yeah Chrome chipping is my main concern. I just checked my FT dinos, the horn of Scoria already changed colour, kind of dusty. I hope I can wait for the metallic ones reissue... but as stated above, MoShow is doing another big project right now. BTW, I preordered Takeda Shingen...I can no longer resist the temptation of so many beautiful photos of it.
If the Takeda sells well (which I think it will for sure), they will continue release more robots from this original manga: 漫画全集在线观看 - 哔哩哔哩漫画正版漫画平台 Here are the robots 先祖效应_百度百科 Takeda Shingen (武田信玄)--- released Date Masamune (伊达政宗) Uesugi Kenshin (上杉谦信) 秦国大将王翦 Lu Bu (romance of the three kingdoms 温侯吕布) Based on Knights of the Round? (湖中骑士) scourge of God Attila (阿提拉)
Whoa that's awesome! Oh, so the MCT line is the same as the "Progenitor/Ancestral Effect" preorders on ShowZ? Intriguing...
Yeah, that's the line. So MoShow is doing this original manga, girls piloting big robots which is based on the famous generals from history and fighting aliens. (Thus the name of "Progenitor Effect")
I bought the weathered version because it would go well with my weathered 3rd party Devastator. I don't suppose anyone else out there makes weathered dinobots?
If gigapower do a metallic re-run, I might buy sludge, swoop and grimmy, and then get someone to custom paint them for me to complete the weathered set. And check these out (sorry I can't post links yet). Search youtube for user kinggrimlock35 - scroll down his uploaded vids and there's a few custom battle dinobots for inspiration. Also search youtube for user zman33 and look at his custom painted grimlocks.
