I think Hasbro will intentionally drag their feet on the Dinos. Would be happy to be wrong but I think they want to string the G1 collectors like me for another 3-4 years at least. Sludge is the only one we have had heard is coming out next year. Swoop is Voyager class and a lot of those slots are taken in both lines.
If theh wanted to do that they'd just remake them again. "This batch has forearm panels, $60 please."
They could but I think a lot fans like me will pass after they got all 5. so why rush? The 84-86 cast won’t be completed before 2024. They can afford to pace it out.
Forearm panels?! Take all of my money!! Sadly more of us would bite than we care to admit. After spending $230+ to get all 5 Dinobots in the right size and shape, I'm man enough to admit they could probably get me for another $70 for Paddles and Slash, and yet another $250+ for the toy versions with swords.
Oh they could finish off the entire 84-85 G1 lineup this year if they wanted to. But now they hooked us with Grimlock and Slag they can take their sweet time. That goes for the Insecticons, the remaining mini Autobots, the Triplechangers and the new version of the Combiners.
I dunno, I kinda like the idea of a G1 twin-headed Dinobot named Strafe. I could headcanon him as G1 Technobot Strafe, leaving his siblings' team and joining his dad's team.
We did get an ankylosaurus in that one Wal-Mart exclusive Dinobots line back durin Armada that used BW & BWN molds. He was named Slapper. I'd take a G1 robotic dino version of the character.
It never fails to amuse me that Hasbro went, "Wait, Slag means what in Britland?! Oh god, change it quick so we don't upset Little Timmy's mum!" And THEN, when they had the opportunity to name a new Dinobot, they called it Slapper. For those initiated in the ways of the Britlish, that's really funny.
Hey, don't forget BM Dinotron! He turns into a Pachycephalosaurus. Easy repaint/retool of Dinobot, too if Hasbro wants another crack at monetizing the Dinobot mold. Edit: He'd also be an easy update for a G1 bot. If they did Slash, they could repaint/retool her into Dinotron. Basically, just glue a little dome on and you got him!
Totally get that. I meant he'd be easy to reintroduce as a G1 Dinobot or as a BW character. Sorry that wasn't clear. Reading it back over, I confused myself!
Great idea but its just not for me. I didn't really enjoy the POTP Dinobots in concept or execution, but I think Grimstone is worth a look as a lot of other folks did.
Yeah but also she's a Dinobot so her and Paddles being big wouldn't be the worst thing. Hell, retool the inevitable Sludge into a plesiosaur and make him selects if it makes it easier to find room in the release windows for even a Voyager Slash. Honestly, take the Kingdom Dinobot figure and retool him with a more G1 mechnical/tech body and he'd pretty much mimic Slash's transformation anyway.
That's actually something I'm considering, seeing if I can turn Sludge into Paddles. (Lets just say I'm not hopeful of getting an official one.) If I think I've got a shot, how tough would it be to put flippers and a new bot head on the guy? I'd prefer a deluxe Slash, but a reshelled Dinobot is a good second option which might lead to a BW TM 2 Dinobot and BW Dinobot clone.
