Just wondering if any board members recommend Hobby Search? I've read some mixed things when I did a Google search. Thanks in advance.

It's fine for items in stock. Anything that is a high demand preorder will be pretty difficult to secure there. And when I say difficult, I mean way beyond the difficult you could imagine at other shops. I consider myself a "pro" at F5ing and getting preorders for the stuff I want and I have pretty much never failed at getting anything I really wanted. None of those things were ever secured at Hobby Search by me.

This is not something a "pro" would say.

  Yeah, I suck at this shit...:D
I think I had a chance to get a couple things there but I ended up passing because I simultaneously secured at another shop first. But seriously, most of the time their listing go from on sale soon to sold out between F5s with zero chance of even trying to click the add to cart button.

Okay, thanks. I saw a few recent reviews that stated the packaging was horrible, as was the customer service, and that their cards were charged without prior authorization. Here's to hoping those were the verbal exceptions. *clicks ''order''*

HOBBY SEARCH has been a lifesaver for sourcing the half-dozen OBITSU 26cm. aftermarket doll bodies
i've gotten so far in order to bring as many of my old 1/6 Anime girls up to snuff as i possibly can.

they tend to repeatedly run dry of stock for a month or so at a time,
but they keep getting fresh allotments in at a rather regular schedule even so, so i'm not all too bothered...

They've been my monthly source for Japanese goods for ~10 years now, and I've never experienced any of those issues with them. Their boxes are sturdy and they pad adequately with paper, never had a charge issue with them, and anytime I've had to correspond with them, they've been quick and polite and super helpful.

I've had some luck with putting a "watch" on some rarer items that were snapped up at pre-order time. Closer to the release date (and when people would be cancelling their POs) when they came in stock, I received an e-mail alert. I ordered, I paid, they shipped, and it arrived in great shape.

Another thing, their courier rates are higher compared to others.

I have used Robotoybase in the past and use PIA Club regularly, and I've noticed shipping charges are higher than they used to be. Sucks for those of us that import, but what to do...

Shipping has been higher definitely but Hobby Search's DHL rates are higher compared to others is what I'm getting at. If you find an item elsewhere, it's worth comparing the shipping costs if possible.

Oh, I got ya - I got that from your previous post, I was just thinking out loud about shipping costs of late. But yeah, Hobby Search, I was going to get two $21 action figures but the shipping option I looked at was in the $30's.
