I should have double checked but I had 91% stuck in my head because it's what typically gets recommended. I'm glad it happened or something like this though. I'll look for and get some lab grade 70% and lab grade 91% before I even consider removing battle damage paint apps from anything.

Oh nice, I'm glad you were able to fix your copy.

I would need a jeweler's loop in addition to finding and convincing Rick Moranis to shrink me in order to glue mine back together. It's not a big deal though, I'm sure someone will scuplt and produce something with nice billowing clouds of air pollution at some point along with something that is a mix of flames/exhaust (similar to something running rich and flames popping out during a gear shift and/or sudden throttle lift). I wish it hadn't have happened but, hopefully it will save someone else from doing the same thing.

    My trailer also didn’t close.
A layer of enamel paint on the tabs did the trick.

new experience for me, but it appears that alcohol, at least 91%, is better used for “rubbing” on surfaces to get rid of smaller patches of u wanted paint apps

here, Hasbro for WHATEVER reason completely coated these effects in a THICK layer of black paint that required , what, half hour of dunking to get off?
Thats gotta be what killed ours

otoh, a light swabbing on the Galvatron orange cannon produced no effects and got rid of the unwanted “frost” coating

I didn't soak/dunk mine, I just wiped/rubbed. I didn't time it but it was probably easily 10 to 20 min (the power went out while I was doing it so I had to go near a window to try and finish.

I was forming the opinion that the constant wiping and rubbing to get that thick AF paint layer off (I still don't know why it was so thick nor glossy) is what caused the plastic to break down but, I guess not since your copy disintegrated with a soak/dunk.

I've never stripped paint off before so, I should have been far less aggressive and I should not have gotten duped by how well it was working. In hindsight, the ease should have been a clear indication that something was wrong.

Picked up my Rodimus the other day after a weird dance of pre-order cancellation and subsequent reserved in-store delivery from TRU Canada.

I like the look. He's big and beefy (as beefy as a Rodimus should be) and doesn't have the weird janky proportions of PotP Evolutions Rodimus. I do have some issues with his transformation where the back panels of the lower leg don't tab securely into place over his now-hidden exhaust pipe pieces and I don't think I have the chest fully set in place because it seems like it kind of sticks out a bit and forces his head to constantly be looking a little bit up. Gonna have to watch a how-to video on the transformation to see if I've missed a step or mistransformed something. There are also a pair of small stress marks on a hinge under the back portion of the car roof, near where the spoiler sits. Though I can't swear that they weren't there to begin with before the first transformation.

My trailer is the biggest bit that's kind of wonky. It closes fine on its own, but with the big-ass gun emplacement folded up inside it won't stay shut and the tabs that hold the top enclosure seam together don't grab one another enough to resist popping out. I dunno if a spot of future/pledge will create enough friction to keep it tight. My alternatives are just to not keep the cannon in the trailer when its transformed or not keep the trailer folded up when I've got Roddy in bot mode. I may not even display the trailer with the robot mode figure.

I do kind of wish his alt mode was a bit more truck-like and squatty like the old cartoon model and G1 figure looked like instead of just being a kind of chonkier/burlier version of his Hot Rod sports car. I get that it looks like this was a decision to allow him to appear decent when not hooked up to the trailer, but it's also not quite the way OG Rodimus was intended to look.

I got mine a little cheaper than MSRP with a coupon that gave me basically 20% off and I'm not unhappy with it, but I can see people scoffing at the Commander price point for a Leader-ish figure with accessories and some awkward engineering/QC issues and being justified.

I just want to throw this out there about the trailer. Mine closed perfectly without the cannon, but refused to stay shut with the cannon in place.

Looking at the cannon, one side has a taller fin slightly farther towards the back of the cannon, and a shorter fin closer to the front. The cannon tower also has a notch near the joint with the base.

My cannon had the taller fin on top, and the smaller fin on the bottom, which completely missed the notch. Remove a screw in the bottom of the black part of the cannon part, gently pry the it open and pull up and out on the silver cannon piece, flip it, and reassemble. The "tall" fin now lines up with the notch (but still doesn't actually fit in it), but the slightly smaller fin is now on top. And presto, my trailer stays closed without any polish, rubber bands, heat etc.

I know this doesn't help those whose trailer is warped and just won't close, but I'm wondering if we've got another galvatron situation here. (Or maybe mine was just misassembled.) The box photo and instructions both show the shorter, more forward fin on top.

Mine has the smaller fin on top but still won't close completely at the back with the cannon inside (if I press it, it will stick briefly, then part again). Without the cannon it closes fine.

Warning: this post will contain multiple instances of trolling, mostly against Racer_J, but I can't help it. I've had a long day and the allure of mocking people's typos is too strong.

I've heard of eating for two, but that's ridiculous....

If u wanted the paint apps then why are you trying to get rid of them?

Well, he is returning for another Shrunk movie...

Curious if anyone has gotten one of the September release BBTS copies?
I wonder if they were produced/made a little after all the defective ones that shipped in June/July.

I have a good trailer on my Japanese copy, but I ordered one off BBTS because I had an unsightly
paint glob on the collar of my Rodimus... guess it doesn't matter if the trailer is bad or not since I really
only need the core figure from my second copy.

My copy was from GameStop. I don't know if there is a way for consumers to determine the LOT/batch number or production date though.

I just unboxed Rodimus Prime and it's a great toy of the successor to Optimus Prime. Bot mode is definitely the star of the show but I really like the alt mode as well. I like it being a chunky version of the Dome Zero inspired alt mode of Hot Rod.

Hefty bot mode with durable and dense feeling plastic. Complex transformation that puts it into Leader Class worthiness. I very much like the colors used, especially the reds.

The surface sculpting details are great and the aesthetics definitely seem inspired by Studio Ox. I can see why this shouldn't be a Studio 86 product as it's not animation accurate as far as the plethora of greebles go. I'm fine with that.

If Hasbro were to reuse the engineering with a mold of Rodimus with less surface detail, it would be a great animation styled variant.

I haven't messed around with the trailer and accessories yet but I've confirmed that my trailer is yet another with tolerance issues and doesn't tab together properly.

I think that Kingdom Rodimus Prime is a worthy Commander Class toy if you feel similarly about Siege Jetfire and Earthrise Sky Lynx. Kingdom Rodimus Prime is no less a Commander Class toy than its predecessors. The MSRP is still a tough pill to swallow but no less than other Transformers toys prices these days.

I tried the heat method on the trailer, didn't work for me, but I used Future on all the connections and that seemed to do the trick!

I just took the trailer out to mess around with. My copy can close properly if I flip up the cannon turret blast shields (they are packaged flipped down). So I guess lucky me, my trailer seems to work properly.

I am still waiting to get him on a sale here in Germany. I do not really feel liker paying 100€ for him. Yesterday I was able to handle the cab section from a friend (did not handle the trailer and effect parts). It is a nice car and a cool robot. I started to see how this relates to the price range in a similar way like Earthrise Leader Optimus and Studio Series 86 Voyager Hot Rod. Nevertheless it is kinda of a stretch and I can totally understand why people are not okay with the asked price.

Not sure how noticeable it is in this pic, but these spoilers are very different colors in person. The one on the left is much brighter and has kind of a green tinge to it.

The spoiler wing piece was molded in transparent dark blue, later painted with yellow and orange. The left copy in your picture may just be a result of that copy's spoiler wasn't painted with the complete coverage it needed QC-wise; creating a slightly greener hue on the yellow paint.
