It's a dull grey color repaint. Should have been black with fiery yellow details and the burning red eyes of Abaddon, Archangel of the Abyss.

With the references to the Canyon Attack scene and the backdrop, I assume that's Alternate Universe N.E.S.T. Agent Burns, not Sam Witwicky. The Jeep is a neat mold. It works for what it is.

I see folks calling this a lazy repaint, but at least it's a different color. The Sweeps... THAT is a lazy repaint.

 

I agree that the logic was flawed, but it's noticeable that the 86 figures are taking up most of Hasbro's attention. I would be surprised if we got a Bayverse Leader Class figure again, bare in mind that we haven't even gotten the Fallen. Even if he transforms into the comet shape that Protoforms had that would be cool, and he'd scale with voyager figures because he was tall.

 

It’s the 35th anniversary of the 86 movie. So it is going to get a lot of attention. I’m sure Studio Series will shift focus to more live action figures once ROTB nears release.

 

If we're going to get picky, I don't think NEST existed in '87 either. So this'd have to be Bumblebee taking on an old nostalgic alt mode again somewhere in the 2008-2010 range.

 

They should call this Bumblebee Sleep Mode.

 

I'd have liked the Jeep mold be used in Selects as G1 Hound, Detritus, Rollbar, Swindle or Leland with a new G1 styled head.

 

there were many pointless Bumblebee repaints since 2007. This is nothing new.

 

So lazy a repaint they don\'t even bother to spell Bumblebees name right on the packaging. It\'s LAZY

So, Spike is not in ANY live action movie, even if they called him Sam, he’s not in the Bumblebee movie, NEST wasn’t in the Bumblebee movie, and the jeep isn’t in a Bumblebee movie. What a mess.

That being said, most of this would’ve been solved with 1) using the name Sam, and 2) choosing either ROTF or DOTM (both of which include Sam, Bumblebee, and NEST) instead of Bumblebee. Strange.

 

Well as weird as this release is, this could be good news for other SS figures. This is SS 77, so hopefully that means SS 78 Sideswip is just around the corner. I\'ve been waiting too long for that one...

 

This is a different case; this is Studio Series.

This feels like more of a one-off release in the Gen Selects line, as opposed to a mainline toy in a line dedicated to delivering movie-accurate representations of characters that, you know, actually appeared onscreen.

 

Okay, that's fair. I'll give you that one. Though, to be fair, they did swap the hands, while this is a straight-up repaint with a new accessory. Still, yeah, you're right.
