Wow. It's over 26,000 as of right now. Considering some doubted whether or not this will be backed only a few weeks ago that's pretty impressive.
That was me and I am quite pleased to have been wrong. A shame they stopped the tiers with that Doom head.
While I never doubted Galactus would get funded I wasn't sure if we'd get any tiers beyond Surfer. To see it surpass two more tiers and then go beyond that is pretty cool.
My not sour grapes take…I was 1000% wrong about how well this project would do. I definitely thought the lack of an army building aspect would hinder it and I thought the way they did the reveals was less than ideal. Has it been a success for them? Absolutely. Does that mean it was a success *because* of their choices? I would argue it hasn’t. I think they misplayed the sequence, spacing, choice, and reveals of the unlocks. They have been way behind on updating the website with unlocks/etc. how much did that impact the bottom line in the end? Probably not much - which speaks to how strong the ML fanbase is. They created a solid modern Galactus, ultimately some good tiers, and got it into more markets than the sentinel which is how we got here. I do think had they added a classic head instead of the doom head they’d have pulled in at least a few more buyers and had a higher overall satisfaction with the project. Same for if they had thrown surfer in as part of the base and then tiers beyond that. They obviously had a better sense of the numbers than we did. Give them credit for what they did, but let’s not give them undue credit either. I’ll stop Monday morning quarterbacking and start enjoying Galactus now
I doubted it. It was just moving so slow. I’m honestly shocked it’s as high as it is. I guess the majority were waiting for the tiers to be shown
Same, I'm truly surprised it's doing as well as it is. I figured it might hit the first tier but after that, color me skeptical. For it to do this well, if nothing else I'm really hoping that this will convince Hasbro to do a Herald wave at some point.
I wonder if the Mezco Fantastic Four set swayed anyone. I probably would've gotten Galactus anyway, but I don't really collect Marvel Legends that much and don't have a Fantastic Four set yet. Having the great looking Mezcos on order helped me.
I do think agree that the one thing they dropped the ball on was how the tiers were revealed and such. What's interesting is that if you look at Victory Saber and HeroQuest we know/knew how many tiers there are and what is required to unlock them (though HeroQuest went a step further and revealed what was in each tier as well from go). Someone on another board said the Sentinel had done the same thing but I honestly don't remember that. At the very least I think having the web page already set up to reveal the tiers like that so they can just change the coding to make it go live rather than having to add a bunch of new coding is much more ideal and I think it's why the reveal of the tiers took some time to reflect on the site. Plus revealing the tiers through social media platforms that not everyone follows and taking forever to update the site itself is a big issue as I know it kept some people confused about how many tiers there were and what was actually in them. Like, over in the Victory Saber thread I've encountered multiple people who until they were told thought there were only two tiers as of yesterday. It just seems like it was handled a little roughshod in comparison to other HasLab projects. Even Sentinel seemed to have been handled better by the same team so I'm not sure what happened here. That's why I thought it might not make it past Surfer. But I've backed/watched a few of these projects now so seeing a slow down like that is actually kind of normal in the middle. You get a surge at the beginning that tappers off after a few days. Then it slows to a crawl for a good chunk of the backing time and then you get a second surge in the last week or so from the latecomers followed by those that wait for the project to be backed (which is weird since you pay no money if it isn't backed not backing until it's backed seems counterproductive to actually get a project backed...) and finally the massive surge of international backers being added towards the end. I really only doubted it getting more than the second tier because I honestly thought that they may have set the backing goal too high. Guess I was wrong about that. I hope so. I would love a wave of Heralds. Or just work some of them into a future FF Retro carded wave or some Retro carded Fan Channel releases. I believe both Firelord and Terrax were released in the old 5" ToyBiz FF cartoon toyline. Not that being in the old wave the Retro waves are homaging is a prerequisite mind you.
Not a big ML collector (I only have a few figures), but this is just too awesome looking to pass on and regret. I’d rather deal with trying to sell it later on if I don’t have enthusiasm for it when it arrives.
Just cleared 27K. I'm officially blown away at how successful this thing has been, it's approaching Razor Crest numbers. Sucks we didn't get any tier goals for 24K or 26K.
I don’t collect ML and I don’t back Haslab projects. My 2 cents is there is a ML and One:12 FF Wave coming out which didn’t hurt my decision making but at the end of the day this is peak Marvel and Kirby. It’s fucking Galactus he is one of the coolest looking and most instantly recognizable Marvel villains. I don’t care what collection you have or what hovel you live in.... you slap a giant Galactus in there and everything in your home just just got better. That’s why this sold well. My opinion from the outside.
Pretty much this. I'll simply add that if you know what this is and have the means to obtain it, you'd be a fool not to.
I thought it would get close to Razor Crest; now it's actually going to pass it. Quite impressive. (I think it would have done even better if the final tier had been more exciting, haha.) Would be nice if they added in a "thank you" bonus for going so far past all the tiers, like they did with the bonus extra tentacle for the Sentinel. Some simple energy blast or crackle effects or something.
