Same! Though I don't remember the page you show but I totally remember the first time I saw him without a helmet. It was in the Silver Surfer comics
I guess that's what I'm asking, was anyone actually "convinced" by this Galactus head or even excited about it? From your post I think you're saying that people were, but I haven't seen a positive reaction other than "well it's something."
I have never gotten the sense that any of these "tier bonuses" have ever swayed anyone. It's my feeling that people who wanted in on any of them want in on it because of the main offer, not because of the extras. I've yet to hear anyone say "I didn't want this Galactus/Jabba Barge/Unicron before, but now that it comes with an extra head I'm totally in!" I think some people like to wait until they know it's a sure thing before they get on board.
The only positive out of the Doom head was one of my friends, who knows a whole lot more than me when it comes to Marvel, was even like, "Wait, what? I don't know that one," in regards to the Doom head and he follows Galactus even more than I do.
The tiers have definitely swayed people. $400 just for Galactus is a big ask. I pre ordered it counting on the likelyhood that the tiers would sweeten the pot enough for me to keep the order and not withdraw it before the end. And I was right. I'm thrilled with Nova and Morg and Surfer is fine. I'd have preferred another herald, but it's better than if they'd given us Doom's cape for Galactus, or something.
so apparently it was one guy’s favorite - but we got the wrong guy lol - it was Marvel’s Agent M/Ryan Penagos https://twitter.com/agentm/status/1432127674730917888?s=21
On the bright side, the Galactus-sized Doom head could probably be repurposed as part of an elaborate throne piece for regular Doom. He's egotistical enough to have something like that in his castle. Great conversation starter for guests.
For me, the difficult thing is that it's getting harder to hold a decent normal conversation, talking about facts, being tolerant of differing views, agree to disagree etc. I mean, the facts that the sales numbers were falling was such s compelling evidence but said poster kept arguing and arguing. LOL! It has happened a few times in recent years, another example was another poster ("something" Sable?) was arguing that "The Last Jedi" toy sales were doing great...until a couple of us pointed the Hasbro's financials for Star Wars toys were dire. I just hope this board doesn't turn into other toy boards... I would have preferred the eyeball-less head. And the page you shared...I think it was a prelude to Morg's first appearance...if I recall correctly? Yeah, the tier was a huge factor for me to back a 3rd Galactus...tbh I was hoping for the punisher robot instead! X) But Morg will do.
I already have a story for my Doom Head: Doom becomes Galactus and, as a way to humiliate his main rival, he forces Reed Richards to become his herald. As Reed stretches across the universe to find worlds for his master to consume, Doomlactus is smug in his power over his long-time foe. However, as Reed leads him to worlds like 'Planet Herpes' and 'Planet Enema', Doomlactus despairs. As he consumes each vile world, Doomlactus throws back his masked head and cries 'RICHARDS!!!'.
As long as we stay focused on other aspects like what a funky choice that 4th tier Doom head was and if I'll ever get another chance at a Marvel Legends Shanna, Ka-Zar and Zabu, I think we'll be fine.
Yeah, at the very least it helps me justify the cost in my head that I'm getting three figures I'd probably pay ~25 bucks for as a convention exclusive or something.
Monday morning blast from the past, for no particular reason. The old ToyBiz 18” from Spider-Man 2. He’s legally old enough to drive a car, and nearly tall enough.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Meggan should be in her yellow turtleneck. She didn't get the green & black until CB's chest turned into more of a v-shape than a union-jack x-shape. The whole set is just one huge "almost but not quite".
Why wouldn’t Marvel’s greatest villain always be pitted against their greatest team, especially when he originated from them? But check out “Doctor Strange & Doctor Doom: Triumph & Torment”. One of the greatest Doom tales ever with no FF involvement.
Speaking of that comic. if they wanted to a totally random and goofy tier, they dropped the ball with the Doom head. Not only could they have used the helmet-less Galactus face, but they could have included a huge chalice. Hercules tries to get Galactus drunk by giving him the most powerful liquor in the universe LOL:
Make sure it includes a standard size chalice too for the new ML Hercules. I like Galactus when he gets all chumy and just has a good time, like giving his opinion on Thanos.
While a Non helmeted Galactus does make more sense than the Doom head, it honestly wouldn’t get any more use from me. I can only have one head on him at a time and it’s going to be the main head. That’s why I prefer getting Heralds, those can always be displayed. And if you really don’t want them they can be sold off. The Galactus head doesn’t have much use to the people who didn’t buy Galactus (or those of us who did, to be honest) and those that bought Galactus already have the head limiting the ability for resale.
