At this point I'm pretty convinced this is supposed to take place in the same timeline as the Bay movies. I mean, why would they include details like this if they wanted to do a hard reboot and distance themselves from the Bay films? This isn't definitive proof of anything on it's own, but it would make no sense to include things like this if they want to fully break away from the Bay movies. Combine this with things like the statements about Optimus and the apparent lack of Megatron, and it seems pretty fair to assume this exists in the same continuity as the other films, even if it's more of a loose "soft-reboot" connection.

It's actually kind of hilarious they're clearly giving more of a shit in trying to obviously make this tie into the 2007 film, than they actually did making any of the bay films tie into each other.

At this point any faith I've had in the film righting the ship to finish what Bumblebee started is gone.

This is my guess too, if they "wanted to break away clean" they would just... do it, but the fact that all Bumblebee statements about rebooting were more or less muddy and full of corporate speak and the fact that they keep talking about avoiding the timeline of the old Bay movies makes me pretty sure that what they're doing is straight up "just keep making movies and hope people forget the old plot points and contradictions across the decade"

Not to mention that pretty much all of those reboot/"new storytelling universe" comments were made over two years ago, before this movie was even being scripted. Who knows, maybe in early 2019 they very well were planning to consider Bumblebee a reboot, and somewhere between then and now plans changed. It's hard to know what's happened behind the scenes.

"Oh no, they're continuing a continuity I don't really like, oh the horror!" It's not like you can make better movies without rebooting the entire story or anything.

    Bumblebee movie :1987

    Rise of The Beasts:1994

    ROTB 2: 2000

    ROTB 3 :2005-06

The big question is if this is bayverse Noah couldn't be alive until 2005 because he's pretty old and Athony ramos said he signed on for more transformers movies

Because he would be Vey Old *

And Tey Will need a BIG DAD ,like Thanos and Darkseid for this news Movies ,so They Will Have to Use Megatron Or Unicron .

Anthony ramos have 29 and Domique Fishback have 30

I feel hitching their wagon to the Bayverse is a losing strategy. These better just be easter eggs because its pretty stupid if its not.

It's stupid no matter how you look at it, I mean...why even bother putting that crap into Bumblebee? The mere fact he still is that Camaro is a blatant shout-out to Bayverse since there's literally not a single other reason why he still needs to be the Camaro.

My guess is they're gonna keep things vague. Open ended enough so that if this one doesn't do that great, they'll just bring back Bayformers.

And if it does go well, then they'll probably go full reboot.

I mean, yes, Bumblebee was profitable, but it also made like 150 million less than TLK. So I think that's why they're hesitant to go full reboot with it yet.

Honestly, I prefer using the time travel hijinks of Beast Wars to tidy up the Bayverse continuity over doing a hard reboot. That’s on brand for Beast Wars in a lovingly slavish way that I’m not used to from these films, and it also doesn’t neglect years of audience investment in the Bay films. If done skillfully, this may be a way for all of us to have our cake and eat it, too. Let’s see what happens and just try to enjoy the ride.

No, it's not going to let people have their cake and eat it too, because some people will not be satisfied with anything less than a complete severance of the bayverse, full stop.

Indeed, there is so much infinitely more to be gained from a hard reboot than there is trying to salvage a decade of constant retcons, dead characters, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura's unwarranted egomania. I mean, to date, nobody can actually explain why the hell Optimus Prime was in the 100 Years War, because apparently people keep forgetting that to keep the bayverse means keeping TLK and it's entirely impossible history even by bayverse standards.

    YouTube (Legacy):
It doesn't matter if they can make a good movie or not when it'll lead right into the baggage of the Bayverse. All of the main Decepticons are pretty much wiped out in the modern day, Prime eventually turns into a maniac, Shockwave decides to forgo English just so he could sound like he's constantly gargling water, Wheeljack suddenly has a strong desire to make himself look like Albert Einstein, Bumblebee is invincible since he could put himself back together making the stakes for the Autobots lower than ever, we get a Hot Rod that is...well, whatever he is TLK, apparently the Transformers have been around on Earth forever so we got all that to deal with, and the Earth is Unicron meaning there's no way we'd see him unless the Earth is destroyed. I don't know why anyone wants this film to be in the same continuity as all that.

But...why? Doing a time travel thing just to overwrite the Bayverse is so needlessly complicated that it would be better if they just reboot it outright. Imagine trying to explain to your friends where this movie stands. "So it's in the same continuity as the Bay movies but it also isn't because they went back in time". It makes the Transformers brand into a laughing stock more than it already is.

Because if the people who actually defend the nonsensical bayverse plotline actually gave a damn about the story, they wouldn't be defending it in the first place.

Moreover, the whole point of time travel is to change things. Dawn of Future Past? Stop the Sentinel program so the bad future doesn't happen. Avengers Endgame? Steal all the infinity gems to reverse The Snap and this backfires because it changes the ending of the first Avengers film (Loki gets way, leading to the plot of his Disney+ series where some organization that manages the timeline arrests him for doing this) as well as causing Thanos to jump forward in time before he even has any of the infinity stones, effectively generating a split timeline where the Snap never happened because Thanos isn't even there anymore as he gets sent to the timeline AFTER the first Thanos does the Snap and is killed shortly afterward.

The only way time travel would make sense to correct the bayverse is to do it Dawn of Future Past style where it's the characters after TLK going back in time. You can't retroactively do this from the other end, it just doesn't work and is poor writing!

It's moreso "They're continuing to drag down what could be better by hitching it to a 'continuity' filled with non-characters and horrible writing" and less to do whether I or someone else personally like said continuity or not.

I'd rather these movies did their own thing and weren't associated with the past 10 or so years of mediocrity.

Re. continuity, I don't think the general audience knew what was happening in one film alone let alone cared if they all connected seamlessly. They were whay they were - stupid action blockbuster movies.
As long as the style/tone is different (like in Bumblebee) and the characters behave as they should, I'm hoping to enjoy this one.
I don't care at this stage wether it's a reboot or not, because the set up doesn't seem that different. Would prefer a proper reboot with the volcano and the Ark etc. which this clearly isn't.

Let's hope the air freshener is just a reference/easter egg... I just want the franchise to move on.
