Two more obscure Hearlds would of been best and a nice TY to all the backers and it would of given the wow factor.
Wouldn't say excited, but it was a fun and memorable alternate universe. And it'll go great with Infamous Iron Man. A SHIELD Agent Sue is an easy kitbash too.
Interesting. In the live stream, he had said the last one was his favorite. Maybe they moved the tiers around? Either that or they added the Doom head at the last minute...
i checked with the video announcement for the Morg tier, Morg was the one he was talking about, it could be that the Doom head wasn’t planned? The poster layout certainly looks like it should’ve been one more herald, but maybe the demand made them shift plans a bit, im sure more people are willing to buy them now that Galactus is out, instead of say an extra G-head.
I've seen some speculate that Morg was the intended final tier because Hasbro didn't expect numbers much beyond 20k, but when it became clear 22k was a solid possibility they scrambled to come up with something at the last minute and this was it. Not sure I buy that but the way this whole campaign seems to have been managed it also wouldn't surprise me that much. Personally I was hoping for Stardust or, barring that, some kind of energy effect piece. The Doom head is just an odd-as-hell choice all around.
Yeah, it’s quite reminiscent of the Tri Sentinel head. But that was a) a more well known version of the figure and b) the Sentinel didn’t lend itself out to as many different options as Galactus. We could have had more Heralds, a classic Kirby head, a Celestial head, a Galen head, blast effects, etc. the Sentinel would really have been appropriate for blast effects and maybe more alternate damaged pats than they already included. Getting the Tri sentinel head didn’t bother me because there weren’t a lot of clearly better alternatives.
Agreed. Pretty out of left field for a story I don't think a lot of people read based on the reaction I've seen around the net. Also, yeah, I was personally hoping for another Herald too, but it is what it is.
Maybe they figured there would be more readers of very recent Marvel books that would be excited at this call-back. 2018 is practically yesterday in comic book publishing.
Yeah we'll never know the whole story, but it certainly seems that way. I would have totally been ok with an Ultimate Nullified accessory even if it would be tiny either that or the accessory that came with his old 90s toy. I think the Sentinel had tons of potential - it's just that I think most of his top options would involve additional body parts/effect parts more than Galactus, who instead benefits more if he came with more of his heralds. For me, the Tri-Sentinel head is actually a somewhat similar poor choice, despite it's comparatively more well known story vs the Doom head, as it doesn't have an accurate body to go with (it merges previous models of Sentinels and has 6 arms). I would have preferred if it came with more damaged parts for display alternatives. Yeah it came during Marvel's attempt to bring the FF back to comics, after years of putting them at the back of things. Not surprising that most fans don't really know about it, especially considering the much lower readership these days.
Yeah, I thought about the un-helmeted Galactus head...looks weird with the hair and weird double goatee (?) but that would still have been better. If anything positive about the Doom's head...at least it reinforces that Doom was originally Marvel's No.1 Premier villain and if not for MCU movie licencing issues...maybe he would have been the "first" major villain before Thanos? Yeah...comic book sales are tanking in my country too...more and more folks are going into manga. Never thought I'll see this day happen. There's pros and cons for me as I can final "read" English translated manga!
American Comics VS Manga for business has been an ongoing debate in the Comics sub-forum for a while, especially in the "How will the Coronavirus effect the Comic Industry" thread.
Well, I was interested in this project at the initial reveal, lost most of my interest in the middle road, and immediately got my excitement back once they actually revealed the tiers, and seeing it reach all of its incentives made me bite the bullet. In short, Silver Surfer looks so damn good I backed Galactus.
It's very uncanny for me seeing Galactus in a such a personable mood. I've only ever really known him through a more modern lens, where he's portrayed as almost a force of nature; entirely emotionless and barely even regarding lesser/smaller beings.
I guess it's safe to say that Galactus surpassed pretty much everyone's expectations, at just over 23K as of tonight, that makes him even more successful than the Sentinel. I'm curious if Hasbro will throw in anything either at 24K or after his funding gets closed.
While Doom is a dangerous villain, and definitely one of Marvel's greatest ones, he's always struck me as being somewhat boxed in somewhat in that his dreams of power/greatness has always revolved around Reed & the FF, or over Latveria. i can think of only two major storylines where he's really gone over the top, that being Emperor Doom and Secret Wars (and well his failed attempt in IG). More modern storylines have also emphasized that unusual sense of nobility/honor that he has, and I have a feeling that's what's going to stick if he does get into the MCU, given somewhat similar things have happened to Loki. Yeah, personally I'm not fond of the current storytelling style where they really drag out and milk things - it really hurts the enthusiasm. For example, I loved how Hickman's Powers of X/House of X started but holy crap, I've just about lost all interest in that storyline already the way they've completely avoided the main story point. I can point out a similar thing with DC's Rebirth, the initial launch brought so much enthusiasm out in fans but they also dragged it out, and whether or not internal politics screwed things up, whatever resolution Johns came up with in Doomsday Clock was just pretty bad, and whatever things he did try to launch out of it, I'd say DC pretty much abandoned quickly in favor of whatever it is this half baked 5G remnant is that's currently running through their line. I have a feeling that in the long run the Sentinel may turn out to be in demand more, just considering how many X-Men toy fans there are out there and the fact that a good X-Men display could always use more than just 1 Sentinel. That said, Hasbo has a bit more flexibility with that in that there are several key Sentinel marks/models out there, and they could always do another Haslab featuring a different model.
Yup, thanks...I tried to have a decent conversation a few years back (1-2 years ago) there but there was a poster HobbyPrime (?) who kept insisting there was nothing wrong with the direction of US comics..point to note chap even contradicted his own posts in that thread and other threads. So I justed er, "walked away". Fast forward to the present, and given the worsening state of US comics and the increased popularity of manga...I guess I'm right. Now I try to avoid the comic and movies forums if I can...
