Are there any HasTak figures you think outclasses the 3P options?

    Hmm.

I don't collect MP anymore but when I did...
    MP-36 Megatron destroyed the competition.
Arcee is definitely the best of the figures out there. (Even though she's built like a grandma...)
    Sunstreaker was an absolute gem.

CHUG (my main source of TF goodness)
TR Six Shot was only replaced by Terminus Hexatron due to his blown-out knees. (Laughably... I got rid of TH for TRSS and ended up paying $100.00 to do so. *sigh*)
Kingdom Galvatron is leaps and bounds better than UT Mania King and I *loooooove* Mania King.
Cyclonus kicks the crap out of KFC's attempt. (Although, visually, it was a nice figure.)

Honestly, it's really great in the Has/Tak world right now. They finally stepped up in recent years and we're all the better for it. Don't get me wrong, there are times that 3rd party does it better (mainly making figures that otherwise wouldn't exist) but Has/Tak has made it so I don't buy much in the way of 3rd party anymore unless it's an upgrade kit. (Although, I did just buy FP's Roadbuster to replace my Hasbro version...)

By the way credits for the owner of this amazing Photos. Reflector Files, and the others (I can't remember their nicknames. )

Yeah I think MP-36 Megatron, Inferno, Grapple, Ironhide , Sunstreaker , Ultra Magnus, Bumblebbee, Takara beats Third party. But don't forget that Badcube Sunsurge, Toyworld Bii, KFC Citizen Stack they are really old molds. I am just looking at the pictures of Takaras MP Skyfire and Skids they look terrible. They are unable to make better figures even XTB Skids and Fanstoys Skyfire is 2 years old products.

For random personal preference, I like chunky Maketoys' Gundog over either HasTak or Fanstoys

Most of the Takara options are superior to the 3p option. I’m almost always upgrading to Takara from the 3p stand-in. Only exceptions have been Grimlock (switched to Grinder), Hotrod (switched to Hoodlum), and soon Acoustic Wave will replace Soundwave. While your mileage may vary, even overpriced “messes” like mp47 Hound and Mp44 Prime blow away their closest 3p competition.

Again, this is all opinion. No one needs to take my personal beliefs as hardline facts.

I wish he was a bit cleaner, but can't argue he far outstrips Sun Surge, if just for the weird way Surge's arms posts jut out too far

The more I collect, the less I like the official stuff. I mostly collect CHUG, so it's MMC vs Hasbro in my collection and MMC wipes the floor with Hasbro on every single one of their figures. But yeah, T30 Springer is better than the FP option.

I think there's plenty of cases where Hasbro stuff wins out for me. Brand loyalty is silly anyway, particularly loyalty to everyone but the actual IP holder.

For starters, 3P CHUG is way down from where it once was, so if you want toys in that style, it's basically only Hasbro. MMC and Planet X are still going, but they have enough style to them to almost be considered their own thing.

Within MP, it's case by case and everyone's got their own tastes. All of the MP Infernos/Grapples go for pretty different stuff and ultimately it's up to your tastes. There's also the issues of availability, complexity and cost. Some Hasbro MPs are great bang for your buck even if the 3P counterpart would be technically superior. (although the price argument isn't as true as it used to be) The toy you can get/afford is better than one you can never have, haha. I suppose things are different if your goal is The Best Toy At Any Cost, but that's not where I'm coming from (I frankly can't afford to think that way).

For me at least, I feel like character choice helps keep me interested in all companies. I'm also kinda into the idea of different molds for different characters. So I can have the official Artfire, but MMC Hauler. XTB Crosscut and official Reboost. MMC Arcee and official Nightbird.

    YouTube (Legacy):
He's not MP "scale", but for me, Weijiang's Megamaster was/IS the G1 Megatron...for me. And that is the beauty of our opinions. Were it not for the opinions of others that I appreciated, I would have never purchased JiangXing's Winged/Cold Dragon.
Speaking of opinions...I prefer Dx9's Carry for a Hot Rod/Rodimus but I don't have a version of him (barring the family fire that took out my g1 collection which I won't be replacing all members fully ;) )...Hot Rod is like Dan from Street Fighter to me.

Lazy eyebrow broke down how the Takara figure is superior because it's not designed so much as a toy Lambo, but as a real Lambo (in how you wouldn't find a Lambo with air intakes on both the sides and back of the car). I appreciated how the Takara version allowed you to switch between airtakes.

Seems like the video was taken down, but it was one reason why I found the Takara version better.

Also, as far as MP Primes, MP-10 is still the best. Others may be closer to toon accurate, but its transformation is easy, looks like how Prime transforms, and has been almost endlessly copied and more colors than the rainbow.

Maketoys Despotron may not be toon accurate, but I actually like him better than MP-36 (I have both). He has a much more well thought out transformation and his proportions make him look powerful. MP-36 on the other hand looks as if Megatron has been starving himself.

I feel like anyone who says 3P’s are “stand-in’s” are almost always going to prefer the official option. I’m not out begging on the streets yet; but I don’t have the funds to buy something that I am pretty positive I’m going to replace in the near-future.

Ironically, it still happens from time to time (I replace certain figures); but I don’t see them and purchase them as stand-in’s.

There have been figures I vastly prefer over their Official counterparts and vice versa even. Takara’s Arcee is pretty much an abomination. Where are the official MP Megs and Sunstreaker completely dwarf XTB and BC’s effort.

On the topic of T30 Springer:

He’s still a great figure. I also prefer T30/Generations Brainstorm to any of his 3P counterparts — hell — I prefer it to any Brainstorm hasbro made afterward also.

Funny, because I feel the opposite. I feel that BadCube nailed Red Alert with the doors on the arms but missed the mark with Sideswipe (especially the head). MP-12 is far from perfect and is very dated at this point, but Steamroll just doesn't look like Sideswipe to me.

It's interesting that so many people here prefer the Masterpiece Inferno/Grapple/Artfire mold. But then, I don't like the cartoon aesthetic. The MMC versions do a much better job representing the leaner, more heroic proportions of the G1 toys. I also prefer the surface details of the MMC figures, and while the fold-up ladder/crane feature is neat, it’s not what I want.

Sky Linx is really well done. As good as MMC's Sky Lynx? Maybe not, but MMC isn't 3-4 times as good which is what the price tag difference was.

$80 vs. $125? I don’t like Sky Lynx regardless, but the differential isn’t quite that large.

Wait...pretty sure $125 only gets you 1/2 of their Sky Lynx. He was sold in 2 separate halves.
