I bet they’re gearing up to do a livestream with the episodes like they’ve been doing for G.I. Joe.

The "1080p Hasbro" Pulse stream looks a lot better than I thought it would on a 55" but, it obviously looks better in a tiny little pop-out window or any window close to the actual physical size of 480.

^This. The original masters were in terrible shape an eon and a half ago when Rhino did their remaster which is why Shout! Factory used broadcast tapes as their source material in order to fix all the animation errors Rhino introduced. The Lecia Reel was probably in even worse shape than the original masters were 17+ years ago if the Lecia Reel was still around. Without the Lecia Reel or the original cells, there is no way to create another master short of reanimating the entire series frame by frame (digital ink & paint would be used instead of cell) and that would be a staggering amount of work. I doubt anyone involved had the slightest idea that this IP would still be around and profitable 35 years later so steps weren't taken to preserve anything like Disney has done (which is completely different given that Disney is what why animated feature films went mainstream).

I just can't see Hasbro nor anyone else taking on the financial burden and risk of reanimating G1. I would buy a 4K CGI set in a heartbeat even it was a 1:1 reanimation that lacked the animation/colouring/QA/IQ/PQ quality of the film (due to the film's budget) but, it's just not going to happen. It would make an interesting HasLab project though . . .

No added sound effects in the opening?!?! Decent quality?!?! This should have been released yesterday so I could have watched this for breakfast this morning as a Saturday Morning Cartoon!

Oh well, I'll just have to make it a Sunday morning cartoon thing...

Damn, even includes the commercial bumpers...the 10-year-old still inside highly approves.

FYI for everyone, the G1 series has been free online for a while now on Tubi, including BW, BM, Prime, and Animated.

If you have a Roku Stick, you can download the Tubi app. It's free.

About time, they’ve been running endless streams of GIJOE: A real American Hero 24/7. Which is awesome.

That show obviously has more episodes, but I sure would like to be able to buy digital copies of seasons 2-4 of Transformers to go with my dvd versions.

I hope they do eventually include the Japanese G1 episodes, too. But any free, easy way to access G1 is always a good thing.

That's great! It's been years since it was on Netflix or any other streaming platform. I've had to watch it in terrible quality on 3rd party sites for years.

    This is fantastic news.

Just deleted my TubiTv app from my PS4, so now this will be my go to.

    Thanks for the heads up.
