If I stop comparing them to the MP version and compare them to the cartoon instead then hmmm, maybe they’re not so bad.

I have to admit they’re very toon accurate. Maybe I will preorder them after all.

Yeah, the Aerialbots are fairly boxy and rudimentary with their shape. If they were made to look more stylized or "cooler", you'd have G1 purists complaining. They're satisfactory for me.

Yeah, I like it this way. I've always wanted my MPs more detailed and to look like what I'd imagine the characters would look like in the real world, but with Legends, I like having them look more like the cartoon characters (which is not to say I'd ever pass up a nice metallic legends figure). This will make them look different from each other as well, so it's not like I've just got two sizes of the same figures. I also used the toy head on the MP and gave him gold eyes, but I'ma use the toon head on the Legends version.

I'm still following in case they wow people once in hands but the promo shots didn't do anything for me. It's not the boxy design. I have the MP scale of these and I really like them. Based on the promo shots it doesn't feel like they are really up to speed on the current Legends game. The hands look.. odd.. Like larger versions of Flipper who was much smaller. And then they have hollow spots with nothing covering where the hands clearly come from in the arms. That jumped out at me. It feels odd, especially given the price point. They just have a sort of not completely thought out feeling to me at first blush.

I do want Legends scaled Aerialbots though. If I had good ones I might consider letting go of the Zeta MP ones because my space is really limited.

I had not actually noticed that, because the renders and then the photos have largely been carefully angled and lit to obscure it.

That's not on. That's a "nope, you can't pay me to take these" failure right there. Which is really disappointing. But thanks for spotting it :)

I don’t tend to leave my combiners combined. My Zeta Aerialbots are mainly because they seem to take up less space that way. But my Stunticons, Combaticons, and DJD are all out as individual figures. So the individual figures matter at least as much to me. But as I said still watching. I have a soft spot for the Aerialbots. The only reason I have the MP scale set.

I hadn't noticed that. That's definitely unfortunate and I agree it makes the asking price seem a bit high (I'm reminded that these tiny versions cost 2/3 the price of the full MP versions). It's still not a dealbreaker for me but at least now I understand why these aren't looking as good to some of you.

Dropped some ShowZ points on both and got them at well under regular price. I'm not regretting this yet, but getting them in hand will be the true test. More so, getting the whole team and getting them combined and on the shelf will really determine their worth.

I'm just thrilled there's a Legends Superion on his way.

Definitely want to see a review of these guys first. Pretty safe bet that NA and MS will eventually get to Superion. I will try to play the long game on these and wait, if my will power can hold out.

If we go to the first set of renders, the gap for Skydive was filled in cyan color.

The gap for Air Raid was hidden by the way his arm was angled. The same goes for Silverbolt, so it is likely the latter has a gap as well.

I don't see anyone complain about the wrist gaps on NA constructions? :p

I don't have much expectations for Aerialbots. As mentioned, they are going to be very boxy in plane mode and the transformation pretty simple. So I don't know if I'll buy a MS or NA version. I don't see how much better they can be.

It would be great if they could be flatter like what FansToys did with their Maverick (Silverbolt), but I doubt it is worth the engineering -- even FansToys stopped at Maverick.

The wrist gaps don’t really bug me. The hands kind are a bit off, but they both come with two guns to make them look better.

The face sculpts look kind of bleh, especially Air Raid. And their pics suck, they need a photographer :p

These are the best we’ve got yet:

Jet modes look great though, who doesn’t love jets to fwoosh around with?

I didn't notice the gap until the promo pics. It bothers me on any figure and feels very Hasbro-ish.

In the end, I'm sure MST or NA will tackle these. I'd be all in for these if I didn't feel like they're a placeholder that I'm just going to replace down the line. And I hate re-selling figures. I have a stack that I keep wanting to sit down and list.

Not that I never get placeholders. I got NA Galvatron for instance which really doesn't scale well with anything I have knowing full well I'll probably get another later. But by contrast it looks really good as a figure (less so as a cannon). And it's one figure vs five...

I haven't kept up with the NA Constructicons. Nothing about them appealed to me from the start.

But I'd still like to see some in hands pics and videos of the Aerialbots. My opinion might shift yet. There are quite a few figures on my shelf I initially had zero interest in but warmed to them after seeing more of them.

My big point for paying attention to these is that the height is showing 23cm (21 to 23 is my sweet spot; 25cm like MS and NA are too tall). The thing that made me go ahead and buy the first two was a combo of discounts and a coupon with Baba that brought the cost down to $32.61 each. I figured on giving them a try for that. But it's hard to know if I'd be able to get the second two for that price when the time came. Worst case, I could just move these two along if cost isn't to my liking (I expect pantsforming, but hope the pricing doesn't end up being horrendously gouging at the end with Silverbolt, or a "sixth" set that is the pants ala NA).

As for them being simplistic, I really never needed super-intricate legends figures. So long as the basic articulation is there, plus bicep/leg/hip swivels, I'm pretty good. These look good enough to me to give them a shot.

Bought an extra figure to put my totals over $100. My 3% discount with Baba went automatically to $5 off, and a coupon that was going to expire this month was another $5 off over $100. Apply each of the $5 to each figure, and they go from $37.61 to $32.61.

Went ahead and pulled the trigger on these guys. Overlooking any short comings because the Aerialbots were some my fav Autobot toys as a kid, still have em, so need these. Plus, I'm trying out a shop (Bombusbee) overseas first time with the best deal on them which is fair priced imo. Shipping included to USA worked out to $34.53 each if anyone else buying these stateside .

Going back and forth with them but I just bought MFT Omega after all this time and these would look good next to him.
