So today I did a thing..

After 10 years with my company I handed my notice in. It's something that's been brewing for a long time, I've been really unhappy there for the past couple of years. The pressure and demands they put on staff just kept increasing, to the point where it has started to effect my mental health. No job is worth that. Literally the only thing that kept me there was that the money was good and I was trying to find the "right" job to move on to.
Unfortunately a lot of the jobs I have been interested in have required a degree. You simply can't get past the applicant stage without one. And as I went on a "gap year" over 20 years ago, I never got round to getting mine.
So I have decide to enroll and finally get around to the higher education that I probably should have done years ago. I will work part time and have to use my savings to keep my head above water financially. It's quite scary, but also a very liberating feeling!
I've been wrestling with the idea of doing this for a while, and the fear of the unknown plus financial insecurity has kept me up at night, but I know if I don't do it now, I never will. And the thought of being stuck in this soul destroying job, or another similar to it, for the next 25+ years is quite frankly far more terrifying!

And how do I prepare for impending poverty? I drop £180 on Haslab Star Saber. Idiot.

I haven't seen more than a few minutes of the Japanese G1 series, but I'm nerdy enough to have read about them. And he's an Autobot leader so he's not exactly super obscure.

As to "integrating in to G1", I don't know what that means. He is G1 in that he's from a show that's a direct continuation of the US cartoon. He's been used in some comics that are based around that continuity (IDE v1 obviously, but I think that TF'84 might have used him).

As to why he hasn't popped up in more things... he's a big boy trying to take up a space that's been filled by Optimus Prime in every series for over a decade. If you're gonna use him you kind of have to find a new role for him. Thunderclash has similar issues.

    PM'd!

I'm a bit dischuffed at the hollow forearms, balljointed fists and arms hanging off the back in combined mode, for the price, but not enough to want to miss out.

I'm always happy to sell to folks I know for cost price but I didn't see anyone flipping Unicron for anything like cost price - everyone was out to make a crazy profit. Thing was, for me, I just don't think he was worth it.

I got that email too mate but as of now I have 17p in my account until Tuesday so I couldn't even afford the deposit :S

I really wanted the Sail Barge too but just couldn't do it. There's no way I'm missing Galactus though!

    'Put it on my tab'...

If you feel like moving Kadmos on give me a shout, I may be interested. Des Saurus is getting lonely.

You're absolutely doing the right thing for yourself in the long run. If you don't look after you, who else is going to?

Brave choice. I did similar in my mid twenties after I'd just got married and mortgaged, and don't regret it.

Getting my degree as an adult not only recompensed for my pretty crap A levels, but also made me apply myself (which was why the A levels weren't what was predicted). I not only got a first, but also came out top on my course, too.

It's a shock to the system (even though I'd only been working less than a decade), but once you get past that you'll fund you treat it like a job. That's what worked for me, actually...it was my job. My student finance went on the mortgage and food shopping, no blowing it on partying and stuff!

It got me into a higher level job and I haven't really looked backwards.

    Good for you, Embee.

Lamborghini are celebrating 50 years of the Countach with a new one!,

Sideswipe and Sunstreaker in G1 colours with that alt mode in a live action movie and I might actually watch it.

    @Embee Prime,
Best of luck with your next move and hope it can ultimately lead to a job that's less stressful.

I was fully prepared to buy a Unicron at one point - I had several changes - Kapow put some up months later as a restock or some sort (before it was even out) and I think some allocations were floating about due to refunds and such.

But as close as I was to getting one before the final version reveal. I just was so disapointed in the high price, the lack of paint aps the odd colour choice, the general cheap looking gappyness of something that cost as much as a low to midrange Television, or a fairly nice piece of jewlery, I just looked at the finished product and the 3rd party one that was cheaper and that one wasn't a shell former and thought.... "Nah".

If they have another bite at the cherry in another colour I might reconsider but I need some sort of incentive to tip me over the edge from indifference.

It also doesn't help either that I can't treat it as "Netflix Unicron" as I hold about as much weight to those shows as I do the Combiner Wars Net series (i.e. none). So this is (like with WFCT) being bought entirely on the item's merits as a toyline (so much like as with Beast Hunters) so yeah Hasbro - have another go sometime and if you hit me when I don't have any other purchases planned I might bite - but hopefully next time it will lean closer to grey than Baby blue.

(Don't laugh) but I might even consider an Energon Unicron Colour one too - if only as he looks really stylish in Black - but that would be a really frivilous purchase. & perhaps to niche for them to ever consider actually making - unless they had a whole AEC homage line one time to justify it.

Otherwise I don't really miss not having him. - In a way it's a shame that they didn't think to release a "white box repaint" of some sort - as I said at the time - I think if they'd always planned to make other colours in lesser numbers it would drive the batch cost down - but Hasbro seems really not at all keen to make low run repaints (well other than Black Zarek) - as if they did then we might have Metro Titan and white ark and Brave Maximus too.

    ----------

Speaking of Brave Maximus I am looking for a large 3D textured raised Autobot logo for my Grand Maximus - I didn't care for the supplied labels but I would like him to have a logo. I think one of the online stores used to give away 3D raised logos - anyone know of anything suitable ?

About to break 3,000 backers, and it only got revealed late this afternoon. I can definitely see 11,000 by the end of the. campaign, but I genuinely hope we get the extra 4,000 for Tier 1. Tier 2 and 3 are going to have to be something really special, and I definitely think the second is Leo’s whip and Starsabers shield. A lot of good guesses over Tier 3 too.

Congratulations for your next life chapter. What you have done is brave, but not reckless: education will open doors and create new opportunities.
My recommendation is to make sure you finish your degree as soon as possible, making it through the finish line. Many jobs will teach you what you need, but when you go for a degree you need to get that piece of paper.
Also: networking. Your lecturers might have contacts in companies you might want to work at. I recommend keeping an open mind.
To get a degree while working part time can be brutal, and will take a toll on your health. Remember to exercise regularly and maintain your social circle, it will help.
    Good luck!

For those who are still trying to grasp the key differences between MP-24 and HasLab Star Saber, I recommend this excellent summary:

My greatest online gaming victory was against ze Germans on a Demolition Derby on one of the GRID racing games. Two of 'em tried to sandwich my car so I hit the brakes and they took each other out.

They logged out so quick I didn't even have time to mention the war! :D

Beyond that most of my online gaming experiences were frustrating as I never got past the initial learning curve of walking more than a couple of paces before getting sniped on most shooters.

The War For Cybertron online was fairly noob friendly and I was able to have a bit of fun on that even if my best killing streak never got past more than about 3.

@Ottertron @4249david @bcm77 & @rikkomba many thanks for the kind words, the encouragement is much appreciated!
It's helped that my family have been super supportive as well - when I first mentioned it I thought they'd all tell me I was mad, but my parents and my sister have all told me to go for it

Happy to hear it worked out for you, let's hope I have the same result! Good idea on viewing the studying like a job, that makes a lot of sense.
I will be tightening the purse strings, definitely no partying, and this plastic crack addiction of ours will have to be reigned in :lol

Also good advice, thank you. The plan is to work my socks off to get the degree done as soon as I can, so I can start applying for the jobs I really want. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan!

Hmm... I have no real connection to Star Saber or any of his powered up forms outside of his appearance in the IDW comics, which was not his usual characterisation...

Ah Hell, I'll back it. I want it to succeed, and if I'm not feeling it I can always sell it on later.
