I mean, can anyone think of other animals to sacrifice so we can see The Batman stuff from CinemaCon? I’m literally all ears.

Trailer confirmed for Fandome. 7 weeks to go!

Regarding those tweets, it's a little sad that we have to get excited that this Batman adheres to the central tenant of the character. Like, 101 Batmanology. But it is exciting.

    WOOOOOOOOOOT!

I guess we can blame Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder for de-emphasizing the "detective" angle of Batman. (And I guess Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher too?)

But ultimately, yes, there is something genuinely exciting about Battinson that I didn't really get from Batfleck from the get-go. Make no mistake, Affleck tries really hard to make Snyder's vision work, but Snyder's vision is kinda eh. Battinson meanwhile had me hook, line, and sinker when he whooped that thug with just one arm. And when he said "I'm Vengeance." And also his Batmobile is sleek AF.

Let's see if the trailer leaks before then.

Part of me wants to say I don't dislike Batfleck on principle; I dislike the way he was written in BvS on principle. It's entirely possible that, had my first experience with that Batman been literally anything other than "Do you Bleed™" I could have gotten behind him.

The other part of me thinks he just doesn't have the chin to play Batman, and considering his chin is literally the only part of his physicality that winds up visible in the suit, that's not nothing. Especially because I really like the way Arkham Knight Batman wears that suit.

I don't think I have seen anyone criticise Ben Affleck for a lack of chin.

Along with most of the comics of the past few decades. Most of the stuff that would take detective work, comics Batman instead usually has a gadget or computer that magically tells him what he needs to know. There's no looking for clues, and most of the time very little to no puzzle solving. I guess writing mysteries is hard. Writing punch-outs is much easier. At least Tim Burton Batman sat around and thought about stuff. Put pieces together. That's more than most versions in the past 30 years.

I did enjoy Bale's ballistics testing in TDK. That was kinda like a thing detectives might do...if they happen to be a billionaire.

That's how they do it on TV as well one super hacker who solves everyone's problems. It's lazy writing 101.

Yeah, that was great. Or him spreading files and photos all over the bedroom floor in Batman Begins. There are little pieces here and there. It's wrong to say there are none, but I agree with the people wanting more.

I am so ready for a live-action, blue and gray Batman who is solving crimes, caring for wards, and who has Superman on speed dial all friendly like. Not campy, like Adam West, but not "street level and 'real,' grrrr." Just, like, you know...a superhero movie.

I'll probably see this, but nothing about it feels like anything we haven't seen done already.

Definitely agree with those who desire more glimpses of the detective aspect of the character. The gadgets and fisticuffs aspects of Batman have far overshadowed the detective and intellect of the character in many of the live action portrayals.

I do like the urban myth and fear of the unknown part of the character that we saw in Batman Begins.

I'm curious about how this movie approaches the character. I'm trying to avoid spoilers so I can watch the movie with minimal preconceived notions or expectations.

THE BATMAN Star Jeffrey Wright Says This Gotham City Is Unlike Any Other Version We've Seen On Screen Before

Wright explained that the script presents a Gotham City "unlike Gothams we’d seen before. It was a Gotham we could touch. The way the Batmobile was described, I understood the aesthetic we were going for was something really palpable. If you squint your eyes in some backstreet of New York, you could see it appear."

"I saw the themes around corruption and class tensions and all of the things that he wanted to bring from the outside into this world so it had some relevance,"
the actor explains. "It’s bringing fiction into non-fiction in a way that’s balanced and really cool."
