Well you’re getting a commander engineered and paint deco figure with a wfc leader figure, we average 90-100 for a retail commander and add 50 to the leader we’re at 140-150 plus the premium deco and haslab engineering. If the V lock meets its goal that’s an accessory the size of a deluxe figure. So it’s about 160 ish at the end add 20 bucks because it’s a premium item yeah it justifies itself.

 

Again, I don't think that constitutes "large portions of hollowness". I'm thinking things like TR Skullcruncher where the entire back of the leg is empty, which is a level of hollowness that is nowhere to be found here. And considering the other stuff they're putting out there, I wouldn't be surprised if that hollowness is how they're saving money for the V-Cannon and the other additional backing rewards (since I can absolutely see them anticipating reaching those tiers with how affordable this figure is).

And, again, thigh fillers exist and I can guarantee will be released for this set. I'd rather take a figure with gaps in the thighs we have to fill ourselves than no figure at all.

 

I mean...that's been the nature of message forums since UseNet. Not nearly enough people post when they approve of something. They rejoice and move on.

You mean the shins that had a panel come in and cover the hollow area? Yeah, he did. The issue isn't a figure being hollow, it's the hollow parts being exposed insead of covered up and being internal.

 

Man every time I see IDW panels it just reinforces the idea that the IDW artists are fucking psychopaths.

 

Okay I figured out why this figure leave me lukewarm: so much of the promotional images are focused on the Brainmaster gimmick, Victory Leo and combining that it sort of weirdly come off as his Saber/Star Saber by himself is the weakest point of this set, which it shouldn't be. Anyone else think that? There just isn't enough focus on his solo robot mode, which should have been at the core of the experience and presentation. Instead its treated more like an afterthought to the combination gimmick, which I get is important, but personally I'm the kind of weirdo who really wanted more a Star Saber as a priority and Victory Saber as a bonus.

 

Star Saber was Scottish at one point? Now I gotta rethink my decision of not backing this.

 

It's tolerable. Unlike people like you we also understand the realities of economics and production. You know, we try to actually understand the real world rather than live in a fantasy land.

 

The molding looks good, but it always does. It is a little shady to ask people to back without seeing this in color though. Don't ask for money until you are ready, there is no reason they couldn't be at that step in the process. We better see full color before the period is over.

I am very glad this is Victory Saber. The price seems reasonable except for the fact that his gun is not included. That should not be the first tier. Nothing essential to the figure itself should be in the tiers, it should all be extra. The V-Cannon is not extra!

I am excited to see the other 2 tiers and I hope we can reach them. This is coming out of the gate pretty fast so hopefully we can get there and hopefully they are as cool as the tiers other projects have gotten, because Unicron didn't really get anything like I would have expected for the price and number of backers.

 

That's where I'm at. Star Saber and Leo look great. The inner bot has some gaps but that's to facilitate transformation and it's nothing new to the line. Would I prefer they engineer their way around that? Sure. But at the same time they just handed me a package for $180 that I was anticipating dropping nearly $250-300 on based on initial leaks.

I'm more than happy with this offering. Had they announced this as a Titan on a FFF stream I would have pre-ordered it just as fast.

 

That last one with Mirage still stings.

 

And it looks like Hasbro almost understand it will not make it without rest of the world. Why the hell is problem to make it international? I am not from US or UK, I do not care about Star Saber, but that does not meant next project will be something intiresting.

Say what you will about Star Saber's characterization in IDW, but I still love the art in his scenes. His Dai Atlas fight is an awesome set of panels.
