The description indicates that existing gimmicks are preserved, and the replacement eye pieces appear to still have the gearing needed for the eyes to rotate, so I think you’re good on that front.

too bad shockwave lab's is only an led company. if they could have incorporated a sound chip as well. this thing would be amazing and the end all of upgrades.

I wish someone could make a new set of wings for all the unicrons that are out there ( I know some like the armada version, haslab, cell, etc) that led lights could be installed so when in planet mode, the rings could light up like it did after he ate that planet. I am sure that wouldn't be cheap and a pain to make (beyond my skillset) but darn I would be tempted to buy one.

There is always going to be something that can be improved upon, that's a simple fact.

Someone already did this with the normal wings using some lights they got off Amazon.

I mean, yeah, of course I want the eyes to light up all 5 times I play with that, and of course I\'m mad Hasbro didn\'t do it! Sometimes I just can\'t even with the hyperbolic nonsense here. We all bought what we bought, non-lit eyes open, but this is cool too.

Shockwave Lab has steadily gotten better with time, with the exception of their gap filler kits, which are bizarrely poorly done.

Anything more complicated with electronics is, yeah, well outside their means. A sound setup also takes up a LOT more space than a simple LED setup: needs a circuit board, batteries, and speaker. There's the matter of operating of the sound chip too.

My wife said I would be a fool to not buy a set…I just acted like she wasn’t being sarcastic and clicked “buy it now.”

My EBay preorder says that it will deliver before 9/29 (including shipping from China). Not sure if others are claiming a sooner delivery or not…

Maybe I am a bit slow but where are folks buying this kit from? I have looked and there are a few places online but never heard of those places before so thought I would ask here.

I got mine from TFSafari. Showed up today. I might get them installed tonight, but most likely tomorrow.

The kit is pretty neat. Lights are magnetically activated and have three modes; on steady, blinking, and pulse (slow fade in and fade out). And the batteries were included!

Right? I preordered them a little less than two weeks ago, and they came in stock the next day. I really expected the shipping from China to take longer, but it was pretty quick considering.

Mine arrived yesterday, attempting the install now.

The LEDs are crazy bright…I’m psyched to get this installed!

Any trick to getting the eye movement components out? The videos for other eye mods just gloss over this step. I don’t see any screw holding it in and looks like the whole assembly should pop out but I’ve pulled about as hard as I’m will to go and it’s not budging.

Edit: Never mind. I got it.

Still waiting for our kit to arrive (and to test out a way to make it not look 3d printed at all, even up close), but I've taken apart the head multiple times before. There is one screw that will likely strip, but that's OK and is not needed to hold everything together (in stock config, anyways).

Assuming you already took the 3 screws off the back of the head (Philips #0 with blunted tip to avoid stripping screw heads). There's 2 mushroom pegs to undo (arrows). Simply pull out. Beware that the spring may fly off.

Undo this screw to remove the eye assembly (also with a Philips #0 with a blunted tip). This screw has a high chance to strip the screw hole when replacing (even without overtightening).

If the screw strips, that's OK. The mushroom pegs will still hold everything in place just fine.

The eye assembly screw isn't quite the right shape. I may apply a very thin layer of epoxy over the screw threads later when I get the SL kit in.
