I hate that they always seem to do things to make the war last longer

    The Fandom.

But seriously, the macguffins the series has come to run on - the allspark, the matrix, etc.

Overreliance on G1, instead of exploring previous or new continuities, and staple characters like Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee and Starscream. But I'm probably the umpteenth guy to say all that.

    EDIT:
Agreed. They especially need to give the All-Spark a rest.

That at this point I enjoy the brand for what it could be rather than what it is.

I should probably search for it to "find the receipt", but I'm fairly certain in 2009 or so I posted that I was afraid that Animated would be the last series that tried to actually be enjoyable to all, and that the film franchises ADD Explosions would run itself into the ground and the focus on other series would be so minimal that they wouldn't hire anyone talented to do a regular show until the brand dead ends itself.

G1 Oversaturation, as much as I like the G1 characters, I feel other continuities should get more love. It's like Pokemon always praising Gen 1, it gets really old.

I don't think there's anything wrong with humor or light-heartedness. But do get a little tired of kid-glove stories. It may have been how the whole franchise started with G1, but it's not that way anymore. Transformers is a grand space opera. A little consistency in tone would be nice. I'm looking at you, RiD 2015.

The overabundance of middling to poor content being produced by Hasbro.

Not so much hate but frustrated by...

    The resistance to change.

From both Hasbro and certain segments of fandom.

Ironic that a central motif of Transformers is change.

Things that have been done already aren't going anywhere. There's nothing wrong with going into new direction, provided that it is motivated by good story ideas.

I am not advocating change for its own sake.

But revering what has already been done to the point of unwillingness to do anything but repeat the past cripples the creative potential of the brand.

Isn't this just unpopular opinions again? What's the point of this thread?

The brand has changed many times over the past several decades. Pretenders, Action Masters, G2, Beast Wars, Beast Machines, RID, Armada, Energon, Cyberton, Animated. And even now we've got the RED.

I hate that they brought Optimus back from the dead in season 3. That was not the original plan.

Doing that created the same story cycle over and over in too many other versions of Transformers.

I really can't stand the "hurrdurrbut Transformers is about change!" folks.

Shippers, shoppers, scalpers, and armchair neckbeard critics, can't stand em either.

I hate the woman with the snake who scared David Kaye, and I hate David Kaye for making me feel alone every winter.

Changes have happened but many times the changes are fundamentally retreading past formulas.

I'm not as appreciative as some when it comes to the status quo shake up of the 86 movie's introduction of a new core cast but I commend it and season 3 for trying new things.

The majority of Transformers reiterations have Optimus Prime and Megatron leading their factions, abandoning Cybertron, going to Earth, making friends with humans, so on and so forth.
