Just saw an email from TF Source about FT-20 getting a restock, anyone know if this is a reissue or just older stock?

 

Random restock for the first day of Customer Appreciation Week. Sold out pretty quick, though.

 

After seeing what lots of owners have gone through, I don't think I would touch a 1.0 of this figure until they can reinforce the hips.

Now a 2.0 TG I could get on board with if they address this issue.

Current owners, is there anything else aside from the hips you would want to change about the figure as it is?

 

I'm very happy with my original purchase considering the market today. If they reissued or made a 2.0 I'm sure most of us would just get the replacement hips instead of buying a new figure though. No way they're gonna retool that big boy though. It sat on the shelves for a very long time amd looking at most of the recent reissues they are doing the same.

 

I suspect this is why they're putting out a bajillion other figures before completing the Stunticons and Aerialbots... the combined modes aren't working.

 

I have TWO 1.0 figures, Yep, I love him. I pose him every so often. Transform it every 3 months or so. No problem. Hips are fine. I also have TWO Blue Ft-20G (yep that makes 4), I don't know if they replaced the hips with the die cast parts on him, never checked. I would adjust the outer shoulder ratchet here. All of mine were wicked tight:

That's the default rumor. It isn't backed up by anything except "the arm bots are heavy". But... you know...

 

You mean anything except failing to release, show, or even announce the rest of the combiner teams, after dropping either 3 or 4 pretty fast? This is particularly egregious with the Stunticons, who literally only have the last member -- which comes with the combiner parts -- left to release, yet there's no news of it whatsoever.

Oh, yeah, and the fact that like the last 5 pages of this thread are about how the only other large figure they made isn't holding up.

And I don't say this as some kind of hater. I have most of their toys and I bought Motormaster and Silverbolt even though I went with DX9 and Zeta for their respective combined modes. Interestingly, those extremely stable and effective combined modes have seemingly intentionally light components (particularly DX9, whose figures always had some die-cast and a premium feel)... Yet you act like the arm bots being heavy somehow isn't going to pose a significant design issue.

 

I'm being offered a v1.0 of TG which the owner claims has never been posed. Is there a specific thing I can do to check whether the hips are still in good condition?

 

not really, for a few of the hip issues guys. it was said they had never even touched the bots and the hips just broke on their own. some were even MSIB so it is hard to tell what you might get

i say hope for the best and expect the worst.

but FT did a run of replacement hips. hopefully they might have a few left if you do come across those issues.

 

I'll probably check back throughout the thread to see if people have posted the actual broken parts and the replacement parts to see if a homebrew fix can be done, just in case. Thanks!

 

i really doubt there could ever be a home fix for this. the way these break leaves you pretty fucked man. the only option for a home fix realistically would be a highly detailed resin carbon infused print. but it is not like those just fall out of the tree's or anything.

Wow after looking at it, that is certainly disheartening. I guess trying to contact FT if they still have any replacement hips in stock is the only way to go. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

 

Just got one of these thanks to a member here. I thought I might be able to squeeze him into my shelf but no luck, so he's sitting in there wingless.

My TG arrived and I'm pleased to report everything works as they should, but I was very careful with the transformation. Rotating the thigh hinges were scary because they kept wanting to go sideways which to me was not a good sign. But I managed to do it with the usual "gentle, but firm" method that is a must with all the FT bots I've handled so far. Some quick and dirty pics taken right after I finished forming him up out of the box. I feel like I just adopted a son!

NEED HELP FROM THE COMMUNITY.

The shoulder on my Giganticus just sheered off during transport to a new owner, how can I find replacement parts or contact Fans Toys? Are they still active on the boards? Please help. He is too valuable a figure to just accept defeat.

Have there been any other examples of this happening with this figure?
