Has anyone said anything about receiving their copy yet?

Sadly, I will say that I don't think the sculpting and paint quite lives up to the quality I was hoping for based on those pics.

 

He was offering unassembled unpainted kits the other day for 110 and I asked him to send me one of those now instead of sending me a fully painted one whenever he gets to the end of the production line (I was one of the last preorders). There’s a little money lost in not getting a premade one, but Im fine with that, if I have the guarantee of getting something.

So I should have a kit on the way. I customize stuff anyway, so I have no issue assembling or painting. No confirmation of shipping yet.

 

I also went in on the kit version. Definitely don’t deem the paint job on the regular figure worth paying for.
I’m hoping all that sculpted detail will be much more visible on the bare plastic and it’s just the thick, slopped on paint that’s concealing it.

My copy has been shipped so I should have something to report on in around two weeks.

He may have stopped taking orders now because of how slow the process has ended up being. The original estimates were something like two months from design to release and we are long past that fantasy.

 

Ah Fuck. Scorponok was the best executed and most necessary of the bunch. Oh well.

 

Back to making one. Good foundation on that kingdom figure, with some proportion/limb changes to make him bigger and not so squat

 

So the guy on Facebook who got his shitty looking copy gave us an update on how it is and boom look at this. It surely isn’t surprising.

 

How were you guys contacted for the kit? I would be okay with an unpainted kit too. Is there an email address I could send a message to?

 

The thing I can't quite fathom is why he's selling off kits if he's supposedly trying to get fully painted sets out. Surely he needs those parts? That with the shoddy quality of the one Dunkle Xnine received, I'm definitely smelling a rat. I was quite defensive of Dave and this project early on, so I can't help but feel very disappointed.

 

See idk if he was shady or not but I did recognize that the plastic looked kind of crummy in the pics. It didn’t look injection molded or of a high quality. Now I think it’s cool what he was doing if he was doing this just as a fan, but the paint and type of plastic doesn’t look worth the $$ to me.

 

I saw a post on the DoomShroomfx fb page (I think) which said there’d be 5 kits on Etsy for people who wanted to paint their own versions. I guess they all sold. He seems to have a lot of parts in so it’s easy money to skip the paint and assembly process.

The whole operation just seems like a bunch of hobbyists having a go at making a product and discovering it’s not as easy as it looks. Charging western product prices on homemade goods.

Dave mentioned on fb that you need plastic pins because putting metal pins in the joints would grind right through the plastic so that gives a good enough idea of the quality.

And shockingly it will still be the best Beast Wars MP release of the 25th anniversary

Are we sure these are actually injection molded? Are there injection seems?

   

I can't believe we didn't get an official BW MP this year. Takara doesn't care about BW like 3P is starting to.

I was never going to be an early adopter here but I do think it's a damn shame. The guy had a good digital sculpt going. Everything physical has looked subpar to me, personally.

Yeah. Dude is a clown. He should see these reactions here and reach out to every orderhe hasn't shipped and ask if they want it unpainted. That work is absolutely abyssmal.

It might pass off in some radicon circle jerk but it looks like a 3rd grader painted it at best.

 

200$ for this garbage, not to mention the paint job is like done by a kindergarten, Is a total ripoff. Luckily I saw the post coz I'm so close in buying it.
