Gah, post pics! I'm dying watching my copy crawl through China rn. I was spending enough on expedited shipping from SZ that I realized I could squeeze an extra figure into the budget if I gave it up. Learning patience has been roouugghhhhh though. I don't buy their "we ship in order of payment" thing, I've paid late and gotten items early way too many times. What I totally do believe is that anyone that pays for expedited shipping gets front of the que privileges on shipping because my stuff crawls now. All I can do now is live vicariously through photos while I watch the International Branch of the Pony Express slowly work on delivering my package.

I got my hopes up because mine was at the country of origin airport a week ago. Today it now says “departing airport of origin”. So yeah, I’m still 1-2 weeks out. Bummer.

Is it possible to put the red eyes on the neutral non-angry head instead of the blue one that comes on it???

I dont see a screw on the back of the head to dis-assemble it...

 

Yes you can swap the faces between the heads but not the eyes. It's like Guttur where they put a filler plug in the back to cover the screw hole.

 

in my case, i cant even figure out how to remove the face on Graviter, as there are no screws, like with Grassor. I have seen pictures with red eyes and regular non-angry face, but with original release, and if i could just remove the face, maybe i could figure out how they did it.

 

I haven't received mine yet but seeing pics the head is just like Guttur. I will admit they made a really nice filler plug that presses in nice and flush and looks like squarish shaped molded detail on the back of the helmet so the screw is there. Here is an underside pic I found of Graviters head and it looks like the standard faceplate joined to the head socket. In some other pics which aren't clear shots of the back of the head, enough was visible to see the line around the filler plug.

This got me thinking though about the new head sculpt topic and I'm wondering now if they only bothered to change Grassor and Guttur because they opted to ditch the light up gimmick and as long as they were reminding parts why not update the whole head. The others didn't get light up gimmicks so they dont bother with an update

 

You’re probably onto something but I hope that’s not entirely true. Grimlock’s and Sludge’s faces are fine but Swoop could really do with an updated face. Although not having that black section around the forehead would make a huge difference in and of itself.

 

Looks like I may have spoken too soon. My last update now has it in SLC. Although the tracking number starts with YT so I have no idea who is delivering it. Just praying it’s not DHL.

 

I always thought the eyes were painted and not swappable like Guttur. Look at post #3055. Looks painted to me. I haven't looked at mine that closely in a while. I got the red eyes/calm face of the original release and would've preferred blue eyes/calm face. Might get reissue to fix.

 

Got my order in. 3 down, with a possible trade for GP Grimlock looming. Leaving only Gaudentor. And I haven’t even sold my FT Dinos or my extra Sovereign or Quietus T yet.

 

My Graviter is currently passing through the black hole of Avenel NJ. Probably looking at another week at least. Ugh... I hate when my packages go through there.

 

Mine has been at the airport in Shanghai for a week. I read there was a covid outbreak over there at the airport, and there are going to be some delays.

On a side note, all the GP threads are very mellow, and everyone has been pleasant. Looking forward to riding out the last two with everyone.

 

How do you find the GP dinos vs the FT ones?

I am finding my GP red paint scratch easily and gold chrome too vs my FT Dino X (fully painted versions), and i currently have both Grassor and Gravitor, awaiting for Superator.

That said, i cant not transform them, cause i love the dino mode alot too (not just bot mode), and that is for both Grassor and Gravitor...With the smoke parts, i might even be liking the dino modes a bit more now than robot modes, especially when they are both together. Almost wish i was also doing Gutter too.

 

I would say lets do a trade, cause i want red eyes on calm face, but I live in Canada...  

 

I'm not sure if I feel better or worse knowing that. I was giddy with excitement that my copy finally hit the airport in Shanghai. Now, I know how my father must have felt. Such disappointment.

 

I got the reissues of Grassor and Guttur first. 2 out of 2 to Gigapower. I might feel differently if I had chrome and paint chipping all over the place but I’ve transformed each of them a few times with no issues. They just pop on a shelf compared to their FT counterparts. Slavish toon accuracy be damned. They’re still plenty accurate enough for me.

 

My Sludge made it into town at 11:30 last night. FedEx boys must have slept in because no one loaded it on the delivery truck this morning. Hoping tomorrow. Darn those FedEx drivers! Wouldn't even let me finish this post before their tiny little van pulled up with a special gift just for me. Yipee! But odd seeing them drive a small van to our office instead of the normal box truck.

Neither GP or FT are "slavishly toon accurate" to me. I snort a bit when I hear people say that FT is even a little more toon accurate (well maybe just a little, little). Both sets of figures are now pretty old and more closely match what TT was doing prior to MP-36 and "ultra toon accuracy" in the MP line. Maybe someday Takara will do the Dinobots as toon accurate, but in the meantime I'd prefer the GP Dinos over FT on my shelf and I'll be happy to keep one set in each mode when TT does their set (someday). I just don't see FT redoing their dinos after this latest round of re-issues.
