DC Characters Are Coming to Webcomics Through Deal With Webtoon

 

That's a pretty good deal - Webtoons have a big market - and DC can do a different kind of storytelling format for another generation of readers.

 

We'll see how it will end. But DC really is trying to catch up with changing comic book market.

BATMAN #118 IN DECEMBER.

I’M WRITING BATMAN!

As Batman leaves Gotham, I’m starting a new storyline called “ABYSS” drawn by the awesome JORGE MOLINA!

Not talking about this was driving me nuts. Excited to finally share @jorge_molinam’s #118 cover with you! The oval is back!

We’re honoring the plan that the other books in the bat-line are doing while telling a brand-new story for Bruce Wayne as Batman in the DCU.

Check out the new villain called ABYSS on the Batman #119 cover for January. #118 is their first appearance.

Batman Explains Why He Doesn’t Kill the Joker – And He’s Wrong

The no-kill debate continues.

 

Such a weird debate. And I don’t know why comic book writers keep feeling the need to return to it and address it.

 

For once I would like Batman to say "It wouldn't matter if he killed or let the Joker get killed, becusce he would just come back".

 

The closest I can recall (I forgot which story) is Bruce saying that if Joker died, he had the feeling something "worse" would just take his place.

 

I mean he's not wrong and there have been worse threats than Joker popping up while he's been alive; like Bane, Hush, and the Court of Owls, and that's not even counting the Darksied's of the universe that he sometimes fights.

 

Yeah, but you know what I mean, like a three headed Joker or Satan or the mascot from Wendy's that racks up an even higher body count of Gotham's citizens, but again, I think that was just one story.

 

DC is having a Labor Day sale on Comixology. It appears this is a deeper discount than usual, so if you’re missing something I’d check it out.

 

Yep, I’m going to get a big chunk of my wishlist taken care of with this one!

I read Superman '78 and it was pretty good. Unfortunately, Batman '89 which I was really looking forward to seems like a miss. They hired the exact right guy to write it, but the art is so disappointing that I'm having trouble forcing myself to sit through and read it.

 

Many of the better artists and writers are going to creator owned work.

 

Time will tell if this is what it would take to save the American Comic Market.......there’s the Worst Case Scenario that both DC and Marvel would sell off their publishing rights, IP’s to WEBTOON or Japan
