Frenzy in the 2007 movie illustrated this concept perfectly, and his infiltration skills are definitely one of the high points of Bayverse for me.

I would love if Soundwave could have a regular alt-mode (communications can, drone plane, etc.) while having a smaller version of himself that would have the household item alt-mode. You could even make the little Soundwave an homage to Animated Soundwave’s original toy form.

I mean... i figure that's what Soundwave's team is for right? Just integrate them some way into his new form similar to how 2007 Frenzy became Barricade's radio system or 2007 Scorponok became Blackout's engine. A little creativity on Hasbro's part can go a long way in updating these characters.

Iunno, the idea of Soundwave himself being the innocuous infiltrator and then being able to unleash his whole squad of little guys (at least in fiction) remains such a cool idea.

I'm fairly certain that the real problem, as Hasbro sees it, is that people under 35 don't buy toys. At least not enough to sustain a big line like Transformers.
Video Games and tablets have taken a massive market share away from toys in the last 20 years. And a lot of parents are happy to oblige because it means less crap around the house to clean up.

A little late to the gun Megatron discussion but I'd like to add my two cents, realistic toy guns can still be found in some places, most prominently in huntsmen stores, the thing is they put orange plugs at the tip so that they aren't confused for real guns, maybe Hasbro will take a hint and give the Walther p38 one more shot ;) , maybe a pulse exclusive that is constantly restocked like the pit of judgement will do the deed as I doubt mass retail would be a good place to sell something of the sort.

The problem with that is that it becomes a issue on a state by state basis here in the US too. Some states have different requirements beyond just putting an orange cap on it. Like having to make sure it doesn't have a realistic deco as well. Hasbro has talked about this before. Particularly back when Classics Megatron was released. They also stated at a Botcon a couple of years later that due to changes made to toy gun laws in some states they wouldn't be able to release thst figure exactly as he was released in 2007 at that point. Which is probably why that recent two-pack reissue had the bright red on the shell parts that made up the majority of the gun mode. A big corporation like Hasbro isn't gping to make a figure they can only release in some parts of the country and not others.

Gee I wonder why the children's toy company doesn't want to make realistic toys of the nazi service pistol anymore, I can't imagine.

They did make a legends gun megatron ten years ago, you'd probably have a hard time finding one now but it exists.

I don't need it to be a Walther but I'd still like to see a Megatron that transforms into any kind of pistol, I like the masterpiece but I want to see it in chug scale, it would be very interesting :)  but won't happen.

That's why I bring up Classics/Henkei Megatron, sure it's old, but it's still pretty cool.

How did the MP get sold to US markets? Could Hasbro not make an exclusive one-off for a gun Megatron and sell it through those means?

It's not that Hasbro can't sell masterpiece figures in the US, its that selling realistic looking toy guns in the US is a huge headache that would involve dramatically changing the appearance of the toy to the point that it would be pointless to even sell it in the first place.

Hasbro has the ideal place to sell Masterpiece figures now-- Hasbro Pulse. MPs have also shown up at Targets too.

..the MP was a gun, hence my asking about it. If one toy gun was sold, then could sell the other toy gun the same way presumably.

Hasbro was able to sell that toy Megatron because it was tiny. It was a very small figure and it would never get confused for a real weapon. MP Megatron looks like a real weapon and that's the problem.

Technically, it didn't. Hasbro never sold either of the MP Megatron figures, nor did they distribute them for Takara in the USA. Some western E-Tailers sold imports, but that's not the same as an actual US release
