I just pre ordered the Omnibots, they are up on Omegalock for UK buyers. Release dates are June, September and December at the moment. Long wait, I hope nothing goes wrong in the mean time.

think he meant it as a bit of a joke, there are a lot of people who have no idea what AMC was.

Personally I'd rather see Throttlebots done by FT rather than XTB or Badcube. Historically, FT has a better track record for minibot quality plus they include rubber tires on them, something that XTB, Badcube, and Takara does not do.

I've put in my preorder for all three of the Omnibots. Really couldn't decide which one I really wanted. Just picking two out of the three would make it feel...incomplete, for the lack of a better word. I look forward to seeing photos of the actual prototypes and any suprises that they're hiding up their sleeves.

As for X-Transbots stuff, I only have Savant, and I'm very happy with him. I had considered getting the Takara red version, but I haven't seen a review of their Skids yet.

Since there are many KOs being released of pretty much most, of the G1 season one and two cast, I wonder when they'll KO the Omnibots? If they release all three in a pack, gift box, I'll happily pick it up (depending on how reasonable the price is, though).

All the Transformers were of course very Japan-centric the first couple of years. Gathering so many different lines of figures under one umbrella "Transformers" name they had lots of "everyday" cars from Japan such as the Honda City, the Datsun cars and vanettes, as well as Mitsubishi/Fuso Trucks. That was supplemented with mainly high end European sports cars. Really only a couple USA models such as the Trans-Am and Corvette ever made the 1980's toys. Plus the old Willy's Jeep which the US Army had exported around the world and the VW Beetle which was not really a European "sports car", but had still been exported around the globe and was instantly recognizable.

After Hasbro got really involved and made The Movie, the line went into future cars and spaceships, monsters, and a whole lot of other stuff and kind of forgot where they started. But back in early 80's when the Japanese Diaclone designers first started there were a few US models that were very distinct such as the Ford Mustang (although not my favorite body design) and the AMC Gremlin. Just a shame that a couple of these distinctive models never got the attention of the Diaclone designers and the Trans Am "won" over cars like the Mustang, Camaro, and Hornet. Not all of them got exported, but their cars were part of 1970's US media exported around the globe which those designers could have seen growing up.

I know no one here under the age of 40 would recognize an AMC vehicle unless they were a big fan of Wayne's World or some other cultural kitsch. But those of us watching the cartoon in 1984 saw these cars all over the place.

Trying to stay on topic, I ended up with way more FLAG Points than ROBOT Points so ended up with extra HISS tanks and missed out on the Omnibots. Not going to miss out on them a second time.

KOs of the Omnibots? Like as in someone making KOs of XTB's upcoming Omnibots? I don't see that happening

The red guy interests me. Robot mode is pretty cool, but also has an interior it seems. Not attachment to the character tho, so purely thinking about looks here.

Yeah, you could *almost* reuse the Battlecharger engineering to pull off those specific ones.
I think the big backpacks is probably a nice boon to any toy designer because it gives you a place to hide away things. Much easier than something like Ironhide or Arcee where things basically have to "disappear'.

Then there's Wide Load who has no backpack and nearly no dump truck looking details in robot mode...

Does anyone think that FT will take a crack at these 3?

They'll release renders to try and steal away some of XTB's thunder, but not release anything for at least the next five years while they go full ADHD and start releasing some other dude that wasn't on anybody's radar because they're still waiting on guys they revealed five years ago.

Why, it's almost as if the original animation was made as quick and cheap as possible and lacked any true artistic effort. But that can't be right, can it? What with so many people believing that the animation models are the definitive character designs that all physical representations of a character must be gauged upon.

Always a possibility, but wouldn't happen for a long time. Anyway, they'd probably not have all the nice toy-only details and would try to match the aesthetic of their other figures.

I've said that since I've been on here, basing their entire perception on a quickly and crudely drawn cartoon whos main focus was to sell the toys is a bit of a folly. Of course I use the cartoon to base some of my perceptions on, but I also use the toys and the real life vehicles they were based on for how I want my toys to look.

And be priced around the same as say... your arm, maybe two-thirds of your leg.

for each member, you would have to decide what you were willing to lop off to get the 3rd member.

It's like a whole robot grows out of the vehicle, which then become the feet
