On topic:

I doubt I'll pick up any of the Prime updates because I don't like the stylised aesthetics and not too many Unicron Trilogy figures. I'm glad in a way because I've bought a ton of figures since Combiner Wars started.

Mostly great updates of obscure characters like Fasttrack and Red Wing but it's been expensive and there are dozens of exclusive figures I still want.

In my sights of the upcoming stuff:

Pipes
The 86 Dinobots
Crankcase
Road Rage
SG Starscream
BB Thrust

Possibly Pointblank and the Stunticons. Depends on how they scale in vehicle mode.

If we get a nice update of Armada Megatron, Smokescreen and Sideswipe I'll definitely cave.

 

Likely slowing way down, to be honest. I think I say that nearly every year, but it feels genuine this time. I bought a lot of stuff at the start of this year, mostly as impulse buys because I had next to nothing else going on and was looking for that sweet, sweet dopamine hit that these little bundles of plastic sometimes bring. Ended up selling off a bunch of the stuff that I bought, rounded things down a bit, and haven't picked up too much in the last month or so. The rising prices of figures next year is a bit of a turn off too. Voyagers are already €40 most places, and deluxes look set to be approaching €27+ pretty soon, which is becoming harder and harder to justify

I think I'm about done with the live-action Studio Series stuff. That aspect of the line seems to be winding down anyway, and even Jolt, the only truly new figure we'll be getting before the year's out, doesn't interest me that much. I think I've gotten all I want from it, and I've enjoyed the hell out of it. I think a few original '07 and ROTF figures will be my main targets, movie-wise, for the forseeable

Probably not gonna be picking up a whole lot of Generations figures either. Don't know if there's much in the rumours pot that takes my interest. Only thing I know for sure I'm interested in is completing the first season Beast Wars lineup. Bring on Tarantulas, Terrorsaur, and Inferno

 

My upcoming collecting plan for next year and the next few months of 2021 would be a bitunusual, where the focus would be mostly on non-G1 stuff especially with the Unicron Trilogy. I may occasionally still get a few G1-themed figures (Such as Kingdom Rodimus), but they're not gonna be a top priority.

At the same time, I also planned to sell some of the repaint/remolds of figures I've already had and only kept at least 2-3 variants of the same mold in my collection, at most (For example, selling Siege Hound and kept only Selects Hot Shot). For all of the Siege Sideswipe repaints I'm currently have, that's kinda what I plan to do.

 

I’ll start next year with a Bandai Metalbuild Gundam (Astraea X Finsternis; pretty as hell, looks like TFP Soundwave) so that will be most of the budget lol.

Other than that, stragglers I couldn’t fit in this year and keeping an eye on MMCs Infinite Finity line, because their female Tarn is so cool.

 

Hope to finish up my US G1 by the end of next year and have just a few bits and pieces to get. I still gotta keep up on G1 "classic" style figures, but if the rumors/leaks are true, I won't be buying nearly as much. I will get all the best versions of the on-screen movie figures they produce, but probably going to skip the cybertronian bots from the Bumblebee Movie, just don't do it for me.....I think.

based on leaks I’m spending more then I would like even though it’s looking likely we won’t get the dinobot lineup finishing up next year. I expect them to drag out the Insecticons and Autobot Minicars for another three years. But I’m all in on The Stunticons, Skids, the rumored Haslab Star Sabre and Perceptor.

I guess it makes sense to release some form of Metroplex. It's been a long, long time since T30 Metroplex came out. Sixgun and Slammer were released in WFC, and it will be about 8-9 years since T30 Metroplex came out.

 

i think they will redo G1 Metroplex at some point.

 

If the rumored Prime figures are accurate and good quality, I might buy them or the ones APC Toys releases if they keep making the whole cast and not rereleasing 10 million OPs . That inferno is calling my name too. And I’ll probably get any other characters I love or really unique pieces to my collection.

 

I should probably say first off, I have been a completionist for U.S.-released TFs since 1997.

2021 is the last year I am doing it. It's combination of multiple things; changing personal priorities, rising costs, doing the same characters over and over again, smaller toys, lack of plastic "cushioning" in the boxes now, increasingly difficult-to-find exclusives... it's just all added up. Plus I mean I'm nearing 5,000, you gotta stop sometime.

For the first half of 2022 monetarily things will look mostly the same as I try to complete sets I've already started (for example, I will be getting all 5 SS G1 Dinobots) and try to fill in a few minor gaps in my collection (like finishing up all of G2 that wasn't just G1 redecoes, or finding a few exclusives over the years I've missed).

Once we get into later 2022 though, things will slow down to a crawwwwl as I basically finish my collecting up and just get TFs that either are A. REALLY inventive (think Fossilizers) or B. Updates of characters that have never gotten decent/accurate updates since the originals (Tarantulas, Pointblank, SS Hatchet). So like, maybe an average of 1 a month, if that.

That said, I will collect Botbots until the line ends, because they are that amazing.
