I think there’ is but not sure if they’re able punch out pins this small. This is one of the trickiest pieces to take apart without breaking(that I’ve ever encountered in a transformer).

Thanks. I had to start doing a little pin removal to get a clearer picture of his chest cavity. The canopy/nose cone seems to have gone back to the screw hole covers attached with some type of compound. Since I didn’t have the right tools to pry them off without leaving glaring damage marks, I left them for now. I may revisit this once I get the proper tools to remove the rivets. @BrutiKing posted a great video in the MP-52 repair thread, which I know you’re aware of. I’m interested enough to try it.

I think you should be able to see just about everything without completely taking the nosecone apart. Or it's definitely close enough. I wouldn't start removing those screw hole covers just for the parts count. It's not worth the hassle. I've had to remove the screw hole covers on the MP-11 mould twice and I ended up damaging the figure both times. I think you've done a fine job here and you can call it quits for this one. :)

I certainly had a fun time with removing Thrust’s screw hole covers. I say I’ll revisit it and then a year from now, we probably won’t see any updated pictures of Starscream. So I’ll retract mu previous ambitious statement. I still want to get better at removing rivets though.

Wow, every time you post one of these it amazes me how the figure breaks down… and how bold you are for doing this! :D

I’ve been called a few things for doing this. I do love the way these things are designed with the various tolerances and mechanics involved. With this one, I felt that I had to remove more pins.

@Agent 539 when you removed the pins for MP-52’s ankles and noticed the cracks after refiring back in(I think it was you that mentioned this), were the pins heated prior with a soldering iron?

I wasn't able to get that pin removed from the ankle. I had a small crack and looseness before I started the removal process, but when I ran into "complications," I further cracked the ankle post and broke off a piece. He still stands, but he won't be balancing on one foot if it's the right. I don't recall who removed the foot.

    Final Thoughts:
I was surprised by the low parts count of Skids. Taking apart as much of him as I could, Takara was justified in designing him to have a pretty basic transformation, lower price point and a real-world aesthetic to please a much larger audience than they normally satisfy. Although Masterpiece fans are the intended audience for the longevity of the brand, Skids plays heavily to the casual fan that might not want to take 4 million years to transform him. Also, his boxy Honda City shape added to the perfect storm for many to be casual one-time collectors. I just wish they would have included the scooter and Charlene. Come to think of it, A Masterpiece Human pack would be great. The most notable humans that are MP-47 Spike-sized. I’d even take some generic oil rig/factory workers at that size.

Wow! Nice job! Was Phoenix basically just screws and tabs to disassemble?

Phoenix did have a lot of screws. His main body and and thruster pack wasn’t tab heavy, but just needed a lot of screws to make it all work. I suppose his large size and how they were designing Masterpiece-like figures during that period didn’t demand anything more complicated. He wasn’t hard to take apart, just tedious.

I did discover that he had a post for waist swivel. The nosecone being in the way does prevent any waist movement. That was probably the biggest discovery I made while taking him apart.
