I think HasTak wants figures in the same line to a similar style is all.

Story/lore wise though, my theory is that these alternate series characters are pulled into the G1 universe and their bodies adopt that style while there like in other cartoon crossovers. For example the Nickelodeon Jimmy Neutron and Fairly Odd Parents crossovers.

G1 fans who don't like the TFP style might buy them bc they are now G1 and fit their collection (and we are dirty, DIRTY, plastic robot whores), and TFP fans might buy it bc they are, after all, the characters they love with a slightly different design (and I'm guessing they are dirty, DIRTY, plastic robot whores as well)

The art style was pretty good except for the lack of noses, I couldn't get past the weird flat faces. I mostly just liked the characters though. Is that a problem? Am I not a rEaL fAn?
Sounds like he is, but it's a much more minor change since Armada's aesthetic already fits in pretty well with G1/CHUG.
Knockout, Bulkhead (assuming he's not tiny like ER Grapple/Inferno, which I am kinda worried might be the case given that he's Voyager class and has a similar sounding vehicle mode, but if he's sharing a mold with Optimus Prime, hopefully we won't be as tiny), Skids, Elita-1, Blitzwing (although he'll have to be pretty good to replace my Legends one), Armada Starscream/Jhiaxus/whoever the base mold is, Dragon Megatron (might be the first BW character I'm tempted into buying), Drag Strip, and Breakdown. And Nightbeat if he's still happening.

I'm really glad this logic works for some, but for me (and I'd think, many others), once the design has been changed, it's no longer the same character. We have billions of Primes, Megatrons, Starscreams, etc... with each design unique to a specific iteration/incarnation of the character. Yes, they all share similar traits, both in terms of design and character, but they're in no way interchangeable. They're fundamentally different characters that happen to look vaguely alike. For instance, there are many people who love G1 Prime, but hate Movie Prime.

For that to be true with Legacy Knockout, there'd need to be a media portrayal to establish them as a separate character. Any word on if a new series is coming?

No, that's not necessary at all. TFP Knockout was never shown having a more G1-esque body in the show, so this is NOT a figure of TFP Knockout unless proven otherwise. Even if this happened to be TFP's Knockout's canon cybertronian mode, or something, that's like saying a figure of Protoform Prime is a great Movie Prime figure when Protoform Prime only appeared for less than a minute.

What if there's another Netflix series with this character, and they have the same voice actor and personality?

It still just feels cheap on Hasbro's part to basically resort to Prime Wars levels of retooling on the Prime figures when they've proven that they can absolutely be faithful to designs not G1 styled much if at all with the BW characters in Kingdom. Last time I checked Generations is supposed to be trying to keep characters as faithful as possible to their original source material here since WFC and SS began and what they're doing with the Prime figures goes against that. G1 fans didn't like that type of thing happening constantly in Generations before WFC with the characters they grew up so how is this any different with the Prime fans and the characters they grew up with? If Hasbro really is trying to test the water to see if people want more Prime content then they should've tried more to give them what they want as opposed to just slapping new heads on existing molds and calling it a day.

Of course there's always the chance that in the end the Prime figures WILL indeed have the same amount of treatment and that the Prime fans who are worried won't have anything to worry about. Likewise with the other non G1 series like the UT fandom that are worried about their characters getting the CW treatment.

I mean, we've had Kingdom, but I highly doubt anyone's gonna conflate the Dinobot from that series with the OG Dinobot.

They justified unifying the aesthetic of non-Studio Series Generations because of that first paragraph there. =/

Hopefully, they'll add more lines to run alongside the two ongoing Generations lines for different TF aesthetics.

While there's always the chance, I'm personally not betting on it currently based on the descriptions given so far. If we get some update those images were super early concepts that were thrown out for proper updates? Great, I will praise the tiny Optimus in the sky man's beard, but until that happens I'll be in cope mode.

And on why it's different when it's non G1...they got the designs they wanted, and after complaining about not being able to get them for years, they're ready and willing to do the same to others cause it doesn't affect them I guess?

I had written off the Prime characters because I did not watch that series or care much for the designs. Im likely to buy them as G1 retools or looks. While I sympathize to some degree for those not getting what they hoped for it's amusing that some seem to feel it's G1 fans fault Hasbro made the design choices they did.

I think a lot of people here are underestimating the importance of headcanon for some of us in determining our collections. Like, I don't give a crap about G1 Swindle, but I loved Animated Swindle, so I really want a god Swindle for my CHUG collection since I'm imagining him as a different take on the character more similar to his portrayal in Animated. It's the same for me with Knockout and Bulkhead, and with other characters I want new CHUG figures of like Animated Lockdown and Cybertron Override.

But yeah, it's not TFP Knockout, it's Legacy G1 Knockout, just like with ER Barricade. And I know some people were disappointed about Barricade just being a straight Smokescreen repaint (including myself, I would've loved it if he could've been reshelled as a boxy 70s police car and given a new head), but I don't remember anywhere near the level of moaning we've already gotten about Knockout, and we haven't even seen him yet. A few years ago, it would've been totally in character for Hasbro to just slap a new head on the Jazz mold and call it a day, but they've raised the bar so much with what they can do with remolding (and before anyone brings up Barricade, he was based on art by Guido Guidi of a G1 Marvel-style Barricade using Smokescreen's body type), I'm confident it'll turn out pretty decent. Will he be exactly the figure I want in every detail? Doesn't sound like it, but I'll still be happy to have him at all just as I was with Barricade.

Praise the Maker! I’ve been wanting a new Knock Out and missed all but the Beast Hunter Deco, and really wanted him given the Transformers Animated Lugnut treatment to bring into a more Classics Line.

An Override/Nitro Convoy would be a great redeco of any toy worthy of Knock Out.

A Lamborghini Murai would make a great basis for both.

100% no. Earth mode Override based on a mold that shares no similarities with her silhouette sounds like a curse on me and my family.

This comment alone has flipped my opinion on the prime situation entirely. TFP fans, I am now fully on your side.

If you meant the Miura, I was thinking that'd be perfect for Knockout too, but gonna have to disagree on Override. Just like I at least need Knockout to turn into a sexy sportscar and transform with his fenders/headlights on his chest, Override needs to stay as a Cybertronian car vaguely resembling the Mach 5 with the cockpit on her chest, or there's no point to remaking her.

If Override was going to be made from an existing mold, I think the only potentially good candidate would be SS86 Blurr, and only if they could somehow rework the transformation to incorporate the massive arm kibble into her legs instead, and make room on the underside of the car for wheels.
