I feel like we're going to see Starscream and Jhiaxus early on in the offical reveal cycle (October-ish?). With Blaster supposedly coming in wave 5 of Kingdom I can see him not getting his Legacy release until a few waves in, so it's conceivable that Starscream and Jhiaxus could be in those first couple of waves.

I'm definitely very interested to see the execution on them both. I always felt fairly confident when imagining how the BW characters would be 'generationsed' but I do feel like there's much more scope for the design team to experiment with characters like these two.

    Morning Apollux,

Regarding Generations bulkhead, can't recall if you've seen the truck mode?
Was wondering, since it seems to be a multi wheeled army truck of some kind if it would be a good candidate for a new Pyro. ;)

    Morning :) ,

I haven't heard anything on the grapevine, but I'm fairly confident it would make a decent base figure for a skilled customizer.

You could 3D print a new back shield to give a more accurate vehicle mode and potentially even add some pieces so you can make the gun emplacement.

    Nice idea!

That has always been one of my favorite obscure TF designs. If Hasbro uses this mould as a base for an updated Pyro, I could potentially forgive them for how poor a Bulkhead it made.

Gonna throw my hat into the ring of PotP Elita 1 lovers. She's a really fun toy, and she absolutely owns the mold; PotP Starscream looks so bad in comparison. Also, I don't like the Netflix Elita because she's a shellformer, and a shellformer that I can't even transform most of the time.

You are making a lot of judgments on something most of us haven’t seen yet.

Have faith, Earthmode Hound will eventually come out as an impossible to find store exclusive.

Well very broadly, it would still take a significant amount of 3D printing or parts fabrication to make a decent go of it.

A simple repaint wouldn't really cut the mustard unless you're really forgiving.

Also take note that in general I have pretty low standards regarding TF's I buy almost anything these days!

I say WFC is G1 inspired at least in the way they lean hard into Sunbow designs but opt for more detailing then they could do in animation or the original Marvel comics.

Firstly, I acknowledged that this is all based on What Apollux has said. Secondly, I'm curious to know whether you'd say this to the people defending the design choices without seeing the figures, or if you think that only criticism is invalid, because "negativity bad".

Thirdly, My post breaks down exactly what elements of Knockout and Bulkhead's designs do the most to create the feel of their characters and would be most essential to carry over into new takes. Apollux, who has long proven to be a reliable source of information, has said all of those elements are missing. Character designs aren't magic. You don't need to see a new take to know whether it'll work, if you already know that all the most important parts are missing. Perhaps the crowd that thinks a black and purple Smokescreen can somehow pass as Barricade will also like these Prime designs, but I can say, with reasonable confidence, I will not.

If, through some miracle, I'm wrong, then I'm wrong and get to enjoy some good Prime toys. I've never presented my opinion on these toys as absolute certainties, but I do think we have enough information to be fairly certain about these figures.

I remember when this piece of artwork came out to promote earthrise and it was basically the only thing suggesting we'd get an earth mode sideswipe. Hell I think it came out before we got a bumblebee. Transformers War For Cybertron Earthrise Autobot and Decepticon Group Posters (2)__scaled_800.jpg

Now at least with sideswipe you can kind of make out the square chest of his earth mode. But with hound I can't really tell if anything about him is different. Maybe that's Hasbro's way of saying hound's siege toy doubles as his earthrise toy.

He also shows up on the earthrise box art which leads me to believe he was in the pipeline

So Jhiaxus likely might be a retool of Armada Starscream, okay then.

Going to be honest I’m Not really interested in getting the Deluxe Insecticons if they get new toys. I mean I’ll still get them being a completionist but they’re not a priority for me. I won’t lose any sleep over them.

I guess this is because I like trios and want the Insecticons to match the Triggercons and Firecons in numbers. It also fits with the idea I have for how the Transformers/Decepticons military structure works with small units being in groups of 3.

G1 Knock Out isn't really even the same character as Prime KO. Hasbro in one of their polls recently strongly implied/admitted that in TFP, KO/BD was legit on the same level as OP/Elita-1, and Prime KO is campy and pretty and twinky.

    *cries*

His yellow shoulder wheels! They're so pretty, and they weren't well done in any of the previous versions either. :(

WARNING: OPINION AHEAD, ALL READERS PROCEED AT OWN RISK OF HAVING A DIFFERENT ONE
I think the answer lies in considering popularity, as always profits, and what has happened with the "big names" over the years.
To wit, compare the following concept:
And look at all the different Optimus Primes that are "well that's obviously the Optimus for this line."

Hasbro definitely knows this, and that's why Optimus Primes generally retain (in some way) his hallmarks: chest windows, grill abs, mouthplate, red upper / blue lower/gray in-between/yellow accents...
They would want to create this same effect for as many characters as possible, to make them as marketable as OP. They can't, but they also can't increase profitability every year for all eternity, and that's every company's goal.
So, starting out at least, it's best to pick the most popular characters from each of the wide swath of TF universes, and provide "compromises" that retain individuality while also cohesion to concurrent product.
They can't get it right the first time every time... and maybe Hasbro is still experimenting how much of TFP KO they can alter before they reach the popularity/ profit apex of the bell curve between "matches what it was" and "is new".
So... in direct response, "yes, I opine similarly"
    *shrug*
