I mean the character. I use mostly WFC figures for stylistic consistency but IDW is my preferred version of the G1 continuity so those are the personalities and histories I imagine the characters with, as opposed to Sunbow or Marvel.

Wait are you trying to say that BW has too many releases next year with a whopping total of 3 characters or am I misinterpreting what you wrote?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but if the RED figure is anywhere as good as this fan-made figure, it'll be the first non-transforming Transformers figure I'll ever buy.

Seems like these prime figures are going to be similar to what they did with lugnut and lockdown when they were brought into generations from their respective branches of the franchise.

On the lighter note the other non G1 figures we've been hearing about so far like G2 Laser Optimus Prime and Armada Starscream do sound very awesome and each do a great job representing their respective eras. G2 Optimus especially sounds like he does an amazing job at being a pretty extensive retool of the ER Optimus Prime mold so if the Knockout figure is actually on G2 Laser Optimus Prime's level of being an effective retool of an existing G1 WFC mold then that'll ease the fears of us who are worried about how Knockout will turn out being an 86 Jazz retool.

Not quite. Those were new molds designed from the ground up to be stylized reinterpretations of the characters, keeping true to their various iconic design elements. These are mere retools/repaints.

I was saying earlier that none of the various continuities are very balanced good vs bad, which is in contrast to, say, Kingdom, which has a decent balance Maximal vs Predacon & Autobot vs Decepticon ('Cons are short shrifted, but it balances okay across ER + exclusives)

Agreed, RED so far hasn't had anything that caught my eye too much, but Knock Out could very well change that.

Guess you can say knockout could be a… Knockout for RED?

Oh, yes! If it looks like that, I’ll be very happy indeed.

We’re on the same team! I’m one of the five!

Why is everyone saying they’re retools? As far as I’m aware Appolux said that he thinks Knock Out might be a retool of Jazz and the Prime Bulkhead and Optimus share a mold.
So as far as we know there are no retools of currently existing figures guaranteed.

Especially with Bulkhead, he's clearly the first use of the mold. That automatically makes him a new mold and not a retool. The potential Optimus coming out later down the line would be the retool.

He's also clearly not intended to be the Prime character based on the alt mode description. With an alt mode like that he leans much closer to the Animated version more than anything. He especially really just sounds like a general Generations Bulkhead. Which is pretty much exactly what I wanted, even while being a huge animated fan and loving that aesthetic.

Oh ok, I understand. That Good Guys vs Bad Guys balance is probably going to be more difficult to keep with the next three years being a mix of different series since they want to stick with the most iconic characters from each one.

I'm not upset about it like some are, but I definitely would rather Knock Out have been a new accurate mold instead of a Jazz repaint. Might get that R.E.D figure if it looks good enough

    No we wouldn't. I wouldn't.

Yes Sir! WFC was my dream line I waited for and don't really bother at all with "But we JUST got a shitty Kup 12 years ago geewunners ONLY want G1" It's such a ridiculous false equivalency. NOW I no longer need G1 Kup or pretty much anyone else besides Ironhide and hopefully Brawn, Gears etc. That's the beauty of doing things with EXCELLENCE instead of feeding us shit and telling us it's Caviar. "shit" is harsh, but before WFC no mainline Transformers line scratched the itch. We can all move forward now and yeah I am excited to see G1-fied iterations from other lines, but understand frustration there. That won't apply to UT though, Prime is kind of a special case.

Metroplex will be the one thing I whine about though if it's not a proper G1 update. I doubt we ever see another.

Prime Knock Out is cool and all, and glad to see a new figure for him. However, all I want for the deluxe price point right now is an update of Armada Sideways. It's all I ask for since basically everything else has been done
