I hate troop builders in transformers, I kinda feel that generics are out of place in transformers and everyone should have a unique name and personality. In power rangers it makes sense to have generics as the putties/cogs/tengas are just mindless drones.

That's fair enough if you don't enjoy them, but for me personally mass-produced transformers sharing body types makes sense because they're robots. Anything made in a factory will look identical to everything else made there, so presumably there would be a lot of transformers running around who look very similar to each other.

The only thing I feel like I'd be sad about with G1 Iguanas just being the shell design as the robot is if we lose out of some of that pinkish color the inner robot has.

Hopefully his vehicle parts have the inner robot colors if nothing else.

    How though?

How is a scaly, purple lizard NOT going to transform into a scaly, purple bike with lizard pieces hanging off it?

And those bike parts have to go somewhere when he's in robotolizard mode unless he has an entire bike on his back.

-SS (I can't wait to see how Iguanus turns out!)

Dude Generics are under used in Transformers, I would submit to have a war that lasted over 1000 years there better be some generic bots infact perhaps each bot represents a survivor of his line. Thus explaining the Datsun Bros, Seekers etc. Perhaps there were many many more duplicates of their kind that died in battle, and these survivors are the best of the best.

Also Generics are really underused, war has casualties, should every casualty be known bot?

So far I think the best Generic is Fastrack

    Highly anticipated little figure.

I think we should have three packs of generic Seekers, Vehicons, and Autotroopers.

    ^ this.

I like the implication Siege gave us. Crosshairs sharing a body type with the van bros, but then branching off in a monster truck mode when he gets to Earth. Or Slamdance sharing a body type with Flywheels before he met Blaster and became cassettes.

Yes they are robots but in my book the allspark and primus changed that and they’re all unique in some facet (even if they share the same stock body).

I agree, I liked how Siege handled the generics for the most part.

Just one thing missing in transformers uniforms... With the exception of Reflector and G1 Scourge and Prime Vehicons (they actually did this perfectly), They lead a team of similar colored bots with only a minor change in his look to designate him the leader.

    Another example.
Prowl looks like the leader of the autotroopers.

Personally I'm hoping Slammer looks like a good trooper, maybe to be led by Sixshot.

I would  be up for  for  if they  did  core class  for  the  inner   robots  for  pretenders. No Shell. Only thing I can think of if  they make the  shell like a  voyager  size,  Then  inner  robot Core class That May  work.

@Apollux, are there more of these Pretenders?

I'm hoping for Finback and Bugly myself:

I think there's at least one more, but don't have any more details than that.

I'm also fully onboard for more pretenders myself.
I know some people are disappointed, but I feel merging the shell with the internal robot alt-mode is a fairly elegant and cost effective solution.

Hopefully these are a test run and if they sell well we see a bigger line-up with an updated pretender gimmick in the future :)

Same. No offense to anyone that likes them, but I never really liked Pretenders as a gimmick, and merging the vehicle mode with the (usually) more iconic shell robot mode is the best solution IMO.

I know many of you do, but I don’t consider Cog or Sixgun or Slammer or Brunt to be drones. They’re partners to a larger robot. Heck, in my mind, Cog is voiced by Robert Picardo and is Fort Max’s chief medical officer. So bring on Autotroopers to fill in the ranks.

I go a step further and have them as whole individuals completely separate from the Titans

I don't think these are a true test run for pretenders because they don't have the gimmick. nobody had a problem with there being pretender characters so no one has particularly complained when Skullgrin or Bludgeon got new figures. a core sized toy that transforms from lizardman to probable lizard-bike is not on the same level as getting a proper Brainstorm a coupla years before an entire line dedicated to headmasters. if there was a single voyager known to be a pretender then that would be a test run.

these could very well be meant to just get people talking about pretenders in general to see what fans might be into, though. is there hype for these characters, and do people want the gimmick reimagined? they already did a big bunch of pretender shells for POTP but maybe they just threw that in for fun at the time and didn't think more of it.

On the subject of Pretenders I think if there's anything we should remember/keep in mind that even if the Legacy Pretenders don't have their shells there's a good chance that a 3rd party company will be quick to fill in that hole or at least do an upgrade set that evokes the gimmick in the form of armor suits Ultra Magnus styled.

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know Apollux addressed that one specifically! If it's "extensive" then I would like be happy, BUT...

Yeah I agree this one makes way more sense. I don't care for your exact description (no offense) haha, but honestly that might be ideal when you look at both. I love the Scourge figure.
